BusiMod(STUNY) Mods for RBBS v17.4 Date: 07-04-92 v1.0 - original - all mods to this date from v17.3 Date: 07-11-92 v1.1 - correction to some docs, and additon of code Date: 07-24-92 v1.2 - includes the Drop Carrier mod, original STUNY SysOp ANSIChat and bug fixes for PEEK, and the ANSI Editor. Date: 09-15-92 v1.3 - The biggie here is the batch upload with compatability with bidirectional transfers! Also, ANSIChat now allows SysOp to adjust users time and security level. Date: 11-10-92 v1.4 - The new mods here include fix for BiDirectional transfer and Auto Logoff initiated with "D" (download) command, MENU0 mod by Scott Thompson, BADPASSW mod by Doug Azzarito, mail check mod, and additional merge files to add John Morris's RCHAT401 for those running multi-node. SysOp can now search user file with as few as 2 characters when performing SysOp function 5. Date: 12-05-92 v1.5 New mods include the LRGE174 mod by Yaser Behbehani for creating and using FIDX & LIDX files with more than 32767 records, 3 minute warning by Scott Thompson, much improved batch upload mod, NEXT174 mod for SysOp to list file extensions not wanted, ability to compile an overlay version of .EXE using EMS memory which will give up to 420K for shelling, additional parameters passed to the Txxx.BAT file for testing (now named TEST.BAT to test ALL types of files in one batch file!) and fix for problem when recycling internally due to the ANSI editor. Also contains various minor fixes for color, etc. Date: 02-01-93 v1.6 The biggie here is Microsoft PDS BASIC v7.x /Fs (far string) option compatability! Using the files in the enclosed STUNYASM.ZIP file, you can use the far string option of Professional BASIC when compiling and get 64K of available string space. NO MORE OUT OF STRING SPACE ERRORS! Works with/without front end, with/without Fossil. The BC-DESC mod by Benny Carr included. Fix for Welcome message and call back doors. Fix for VCHKx file not being removed (stock), fix for mail colors, fix for baud rate being set proper when RBBS being run as a door from a front end. PEEK174 (EFND) disabled for Net/Echo sub boards...SysOp configurable. Date: 03-06-93 v1.7 The big improvement here is in the message base. This version of STUNY will permit message bases containing 9999 messages each up to 450 lines long. In order to use this feature you must install the modification to CONFIG and recompile CONFIG. The necessary files are included in the CONF0306.ZIP file. Bob Hamptons UPMSG, SysOp configurable pre-upload message, mod is included. Did some more clean up with displays, and installed the latest BULLET6 modifications from Ken Goosens BBS. Starting with this version, it is necessary to use PDS v7.1 and the far string option (/Fs) for compiling and linking due to the message base mods. Benny Carrs PC-DESC is installed for much better prompting for extended file descriptions. High/Low ASCII is automagically stripped from the FILE_ID.DIZ and DESC.SDI files when importing. Date: 04-11-93 v1.8 Many fixes and enhancements. Fixed personal upload interface bug (stock). Fixed crash on file search string longer than 35 characters. Changed files extended descriptions to "bold off" for ease of read- ing. Allow switch from bi-directional to single direction transfers on the fly. Installed SysOp configurable upload, download, need system (end key) and additional log off messages by security level. Installed RFIX0312 fixes by Ken Goosens automatically updating to v17.4a. Now allows colorized file TEST batch files for color ANSI, ASCII and TEXT. Uses Ken Collin's SHOWIT to display ANSI screens while testing uploaded files. Fix for end of msg scan/topic search. Added .GIF and .MAC as files requiring non ASCII protocol. Many other minor mods. Date: 07/25/93 v1.9 Now detects if running under OS/2 or DOS. Fix for MENU0v174 initializing variables when front end in use. Installed MARK174 mod by Yaser Behbehani. Installed Ken Collins RTSTY mod to rotate welcome files. Installed the QWK-N-EZ mod by Yaser Behbehani allowing access to time bank when not enough time to download file(s). Fix for allowing all blanks for file description. Installed Tom Robertsons mod to not display conferences with 0 new messages on log on. Says "no new messages" using "V". Added RIP mods for RBBS based on original by Dan Drinnon. Fix for SysOps secret first name being shown on logoff from conferences (not subboards) as reported by M. Scantlan. Completed installation of TAB174 mod by Yaser Bebehani for use of tab file with large file listings (LRGE174 mod). Does not use Yaser's TABMAKER.EXE program. Uses modified version of Ken Goosen's MAKETABS.EXE. Fixed LogOff menu to 1) not show bank time as an option if the user security level does not permit and 2) not show comment to SysOp if the user is in a designated networked (Fido, etc) conference (xxxxN.DEF for conference present). Also, fixed bug in RBBS whereby a user could save a nul message. Message is now displayed that he/she can not save a message that begins with a null line and is returned to message disposition prompt. Date: 08/27/93 v2.0 Fixes for User Maint when searching to accept ENTER key to abort search. Modified GIVEBK to be OS/2 v2.x aware. Moved all major functions from the RBBS-PC.BAS file into RBBSSUB6.BAS. This includes the message system, user maintenance, joining conferences and many minor functions. User can now toggle back and forth with RIP support when RIP detected. Disabled conference mail check for new users. User profile display will now show "******" for SysOp and current password for user (if changed). Removed some redundant code. All 4 flavors of RGXPIRE and RGXPIRD files now permitted. MenuNew now works properly with front end. MENUNEWx.DEF file now named MNEWx.DEF for future 999 node versions of RBBS. Additional time slices returned for multinode operation in multitaskers. Minor (obscure) bug fixes for batch upload/bidirectional transfer routines. Fix for crash with long file area descriptions. Forced conference mail check if main mail check forced. Added 28800 & 57600 bps support. Fixed occassional "out of string space error" with ANSI Editor. Will only ask if you want to read messages if forced mail check. Disabled statistics display when joining subboards. SE (special edition) version now included in main archive as mods. Date: 10/15/93 v2.1 Fixed array dimensioning in AskUsers. Fix for margin setting from Utilities menu. Fix for not showing file listed in DOORS.DEF file upon return from door. Allows all 4 flavors of aforementioned file. Added SysOp ability to edit users number of times logged on from user maintenance. Added time bank withdrawal lock out which is controlled by passwords file. Added/fixed 16800, 21600, 28800 and 57600 bps support. Restored "There are NEW messages..." prompt per popular demand. Sends RIP screen reset after command selection. Automatically disables turbokey when RIP detected. Now uses only 1 VIEW.BAT file. Now set RChat drive/path from environment variable. SysOp can set autologoff countdown time per security level in passwords file. Fixed bug allowing user to join conference already in. Added "Testing GRAPHICS..." message at sign on. Now can select OS/2 DOS box as environment running RBBS under. Will automatically set environment to DESQview if detected and not running under OS/2. Added mods to speed up entrance to board. Added COM3 & COM4 as invalid file names. Now has 23 colors (15 forground/background, 8 background) all SysOp configurable and all with Smart Text. Maximum message lines reduced to 400. Now don't have to stack yes or now for answer to availability to internode chat when turbo logging on. Date: 12/27/93 v2.2 Fix for 14.4 being passed for 14400 by modem and NOT corrected by RBBS. Made adjustments in the GIVEBK40.ASM routines. Previously, if running a DESQview fooler program like OS2SPEED, would set to DV and NOT OS/2. Now will set to OS/2. Also fixed minor bug. New routine named GIVEBK41.ASM (OBJ). Added time slice giveback during ANSIChat. Added time slice giveback during ANSIEd. Added time slice giveback during RChat. Added Warren Muldrow's RFM mods. Fixed color mess up when displaying files and graphics set to none. Fixed ANSIChat only displaying on last 3 lines of users screen when RIP detected. Fixed no RIP reset after PRELOG file shown. Auto set to OS/2 if OS/2 is detected. Removed unneeded code for call to read color file. Rearranged logic in SetHilite and SetGraphic subs. Rewrote the entire logic of the external color file routine(s) to correct problem with partial coloring of prompts. Fixed old bug with FMS header colorizing. Updated Trim subroutine. Updated AllCaps routine. Changed many subs from STATIC to Dynamic to conserve memory. New PASSWRDS parameter (20th). 0 disables internode chat (per security level), 1 or greater permits internode chat. Must have a 0 or 1...even if a single node system. Disabled reading of color file when entering subboards. Fix for displaying file listing directory with old style listings and graphics set to "NONE". All version strings now say "BusiMods". Fixed not asking for password when SysOp adding user with user maintanence. RBBS will now continue with stacked commands after required password change. Added 24000 and 26400 as valid baud rates for Hayes vFast modems. Reduced to 300 the maximum number of lines in a message. 400 was overkill and we needed the memory for other purposes. Changed line in file description from "Description by Author" to "Description from Archive" when FILE_ID.DIZ or DESC.SDI is imported. Fixed bug where stacked "E" from Edit Menu (when replying to messages, etc) would execute after saving or aborting messages. This would happen if you hit enter (to abort line edit) without entering line number. When message saved or aborted, would recycle back to Edit Menu for the number of times you executed the "E" command. Fix for NEWUSER questionaire not running on subsequent log on if carrier dropped during questionaire. Fix for Required questionaire like above. Added TWIT keys. Ctrl-F1 will log user off with simulated line noise (default). Can also display a SysOp configurable file named TWIT.MSG (all 4 flavors) located in the help directory. Added back default message of "...SysOp needs system" if NEEDSYSx.MSG not found. Added the display of a SysOp configurable kick off message in place of the "...and don't call back" message. File name is KICKOFF.MSG and must be located in the help directory. Default is original RBBS message if file is not found. Disabled showing of time banked on log off if not allowing time bank or time bank disabled. Added maximum allowable bank time to bank time display. Added B)alance as user option to bank time menu. Fixed bank time display to only show stats once unless user requests. Revised the UB.HLP file (bank time) to reflect new option. Added fix for SysOp entering spaces for users password so they can give new password when signing on. Prompts were messing up. Fixed typo in message "CAN NOT save messages that begim..." should be "begin". Made reporting of BASIC freespace a feature on Debugging only (the debug switch passed on command line). Fixed it so the TWIT key will perform it's function from within ANSIChat. Disabled banked time display on S)tatistics if maximum allowed is 0 or if time bank disabled. Fixed Prompts in CONFIG. Fixed crash with error 6 in CONFIG with large message bases. Date: 02/19/94 v2.3 Fixed bank time showing on Utilities S)tats (previous fix logic wrong). Set so any positive value above 0 in Time Bank parameter in passwords file will disable the time bank. Added Dan Shores Marked File mod. Added file/record locking in OS/2 DOS box. Returned the -R to the DORINFO file like versions prior to v17.4. Fixed string search while editing users...previously didn't trim trailing blanks. WILL NOW ACCEPT STOCK RBBS v17.4 PASSWORDS FILE OR ANY PRIOR BUSIMOD PASSWORDS FILE. If passwords file does not have enough parameters, RBBS will use defaults. Defaults set feature inactive. ANSIED reflow bug fixed. Will automatically notify users if they have files marked and attempt to sign off or enter another subboard and give them oppurtunity to immediately download files. Heavily reworked both the main and personal files systems. Personal files now properly found in the private directory as listed in CONFIG param #142 (without having to add to your FFS - a no, no). Personal uploads (to another user, SysOp or Distribution List) now uploaded to the private directory (as listed in CONFIG param #142). Separate file marking system for personals...does not carry over to main file area. Now gives user prompt when new files list does not fill screen. Will now boot user off faster if they attempt to MARK or download a file to crash system. User privileges now reset when coming back from a call back door and security level changed. Line 25 now visible most of the time. :) Will now return to ANSI Editor if you were using the ANSI Editor and hit Save, then decided to edit some more. Will now display custom LOGOFF.MNU for sign off, or use built in default. Removed the "* Ctrl-K(^K) / ^X aborts. ^S suspends ^Q resumes *" that annoys so many people. Fixed the infamous RBATCH bug.... which wasn't RBatch (Sorry Dan... :) ). Will permit addressing of messages to UUCP. Changed how delete lines works in message edit. User MUST now add second line number (even if same line number) as a security check. No longer reads color definition file when changing subboards preventing loss of color at times. Now allows you to set only one time lock per day (per security level) in addition to the stock RBBS of having a time lock each time the user signs on. Fixed new user color set bug when new user and ANSI detected. Two new smart text characters: {LT for total elapsed time lock time and {BA for connect speed. Removed stats display for conferences (this was done for subboards previously). Will now display => if message read and -> if message not read when scanning messages. Major overhaul to the QuickPeek and ALIAS routines...now operates like a true alias conference. Fixed stock bug of randomly colorizing text when reading messages. Fixed the "more" prompts to look "proper". :) Oh...and forgot to mention in one of the previous versions.....the "E" at the messages system prompt for the SysOp is for "Export" of message to file. :) Date: 03/06/94 v2.4 Some cosmetic changes. Biggie here is the ability to set RBBS/BM to ask for file descriptions AFTER the upload thru the use of the FILEZ.DEF semaphore file. No longer has "Description from Archive:". No replaced with the description out of the FILE_ID.DIZ (DESC.SDI) file when importing. The description imported will now honor the maximum number of lines for extended descriptions as set in CONFIG. Now only allows 200 lines per message. :( Now compatible with RBatch without special mods. Uses new parameter in the PROTO.DEF file to indicate to RBBS to not process the file after uploading. Used in conjunction with the FILEZ.DEF file. Fix for the "D M Z" bug. :) Date: 04/06/94 v2.5 Biggies here are FULL CD-ROM support and TRUE Wildcard downloading. Also, change to the parameters passed to the TEST.BAT file, RIP screen for displaying file listings, ability to disable the 'bama "Who Uploaded the file" from being written, improvement to the MAKEFIDX.EXE program, color listings when displaying .DIR file listings and not counting carrier drops from user verify doors. Other minor fixes included at no extra charge. Fifteenth release of the BusiMod (tm) mods (formerly known as the STUNY mods) for RBBS v17.4. This version must be compiled with MS BASIC v7.1 or Visual BASIC for DOS. The BusiMod mods support the use of PDS v7.1 far string compilation (/FS). The BusiMod mods can be compiled using Visual BASIC for DOS...both the Standard Edition and the Professional Edition. The code is compatible straight out of the box...no additional mods are required. Unfortunately, compatiblity with QuickBasic v4.5 has been lost again. The code will compile, but only leaves 1K of work space. This causes the program to crash with an "out of string space" error. My suggestion is to remove the modifications to incorporate RChat. If you are successful with this method please message me in Busilink or RBBSNet. Thanks. Have fun!
