S3WHOFIX.MRG - merge to add user's name to file description
after an upload
Hats off again to Mike Clark at the Alabama Connection BBS. He has
come up with another neat merge idea for RBBS which allows you to append
a line to an FMS file description with the name of the user who uploaded
the file. The only flaw in the scheme is that his original merge worked
on the suppositions that you keep your FMS directory in reverse order (which
is usually, but not always, what people do), and that you use the maximum
field length for your descriptions.
I have put together this merge which is a more generic version of Mike's
original code. It will work with FMS directories in either forward or
reverse order, and with description fields of any length. I have also
included a batch file which will handle BLED-ing the code into RBBSSUB3.BAS,
and recompiling to RBBSSUB3.OBJ - the original source file will be named to
RBBSSUB3.SAV, in case you run into any difficulties.
The files related to this merge are:
S3WHOFIX.TXT - what you are reading
S3WHOFIX.MRG - the merge file, in BLED format
S3WHO.BAT - the batch file to merge and compile
Just make sure that you have the pertinent files, including RBBSSUB3.BAS,
BLED.EXE, and BC.EXE in the same directory before running S3WHO.BAT
If you have any questions, I can be reached on my board

Bob Hampton
