  1. {C8File Command D - Download Files.{C0

  3. This command is used to transfer files from RBBS-PC to your computer.  The
  4. basic steps in downloading are
  5.  
  6. 1.  Tell RBBS-PC that you want to download by entering "D" at the command
  7.     prompt.
  8.  
  9. 2.  Tell RBBS-PC exactly what file you want to download by entering the
  10.     file name(s) at the prompt "file(s) to download".  No drive letter, no
  11.     path, just the file name (even without any extension) is all that is
  12.     required.

  14. 3.  {C1Wildcard downloading is supported.{C0  You may place wildcards in any
  15.     order even mixing with file names.  If you use the wildcard ("{C7*{C0"),
  16.     RBBS will search for as many matches it can find, and present you
  17.     with a list of the files.  You will then mark the files you want
  18.     added to the download list and continue with the download.

  20. 4.  Tell RBBS-PC what protocol you want to use.  RBBS-PC will give you a
  21.     list of available protocols for file transfer.  Selecting none cancels
  22.     the download.

  24. 5.  When RBBS-PC says it is ready, use the proper commands on your
  25.     communications program to download the incoming file USING THE SAME
  26.     PROTOCOL (on many communications programs, download is invoked by
  27.     pressing the "PgDn" key.) RBBS-PC will wait for your communications
  28.     program to respond.

  31. 1.  You should use the L)ist, N)ew, and S)earch commands to identify files
  32.     that you would like to download.
  33.  
  34. 2.  You can stack the "D" command with the file name.  That is, you can
  35.     enter "D <filename> directly from the Library or Files Menu.  For example,
  36.     you could type "D RBBS-PC.ZIP" to start downloading the file RBBS-PC.ZIP.
  37.     The protocol you would like to use can also be stacked after the file
  38.     name such as "D RBBS-PC.ZIP X" for Xmodem download.

  40. 3.  Wildcard "*" is supported and wildcard strings can be mixed with
  41.     file names on the same line.

  43. 4.  You can stack multiple file names.  E.g.  "D RBBS-PC.ZIP ABC.ZIP X"
  44.     downloads files RBBS-PC.ZIP and ABC.ZIP, each using Xmodem.

  46. 5.  AUTODOWNLOAD can save you the trouble of having the tell your
  47.     communications package to receive and what file name to use.  PIBTERM
  48.     3.25 up and EXEC PC-TALK 2.1 up support autodownloading.

  50. 6.  You can request that RBBS-PC log you off automatically after a successful
  51.     download by putting "/G" at the end of the request.
  52.     E.g.  "D RBBS-PC.ZIP Z /G" will download RBBS-PC.ZIP using Zmodem,
  53.     then log-off right after a successful download.
