  2.    If you haven't tryed out VGA Planets yet here is how you can
  3. get it started for a little test drive. After you have installed
  4. the game in the directory of your choice. Run MASTER.EXE to
  5. create the game universe. Then you can run TURN.BAT to run all the
  6. programs needed to pop you into the game.
  7.  
  8.    You can just type DEMO to see how the game works.
  9.    It will set you up as a federation player up against a
  10.    computer controled foe.
  11.  
  12.    Give the game a try! If you get lost just hit the <H> key to
  13. call up a help screen to explain what is going on. After you have
  14. got a basic feel of the game you can exit the game ( just hit the
  15. <Esc> key until you exit ) and read the doc files PLANETS1.DOC,
  16. PLANETS2.DOC, PLANETS3.DOC, PLANETS4.DOC, PLANETS5.DOC
  17. PLANETS6.DOC and PLANETS7.DOC.

  19.    VGA Planets is meant to be a Play By E-Mail game for up to 11
  20. players. One person hosts the game by gathering up all the mail
  21. packets from all the players and running a Host program and sending
  22. the result mail packets back to all the players.
  23.  
  24.    The game universe exists only on the Host computer. The players
  25. interact with the universe by sending files to and from the Host.
  26.  
  27.    Ideally the game should be on a BBS. This may be the perfect game
  28. for all those one line BBS's out there. Once a day at a preset time
  29. (clean up time?) the BBS computer copies all the uploaded game
  30. packets into the game directory and runs the HOST.EXE Program. The
  31. BBS computer then copies all the result gamepackets to a directory
  32. that the players can then download from.

  34.    The shareware\evaluation edition of VGA Planets you are
  35. welcome to upload to BBS's and share it with all your friends. After
  36. giving the game a try you may become registered user by sending
  37. in a $15 registration fee. As a registered user I will send you
  38. a special expanded edition of VGA Planets that only registered
  39. users are allowed to have. The expanded edition will give you
  40. new tech levels (tech 7 through tech 10). This will allow you to
  41. build larger, faster ships with and more powerful weapons.
  42. Just think of the terror you will strike in the hearts of your
  43. enemies when they see a shiney new tech 10 Battleship headed
  44. their way! The expanded edition is completely compatible with
  45. the evaluation edition, so you can switch to the expanded edition
  46. in mid game if you wish.

  48.    I have made a set of four 8 1/2" X 11" starcharts that
  49. show the position, names and ID numbers of all the planets
  50. in the game. If you would like a set of starcharts
  51. send $3 and I'll sent you a set postpaid. If you want more then
  52. one set of starcharts send $1 for each addionial set. You don't
  53. have to be a registered user to order the starcharts.
