I've had a variety of problems trying to get the FOSSIL routines working as
per the manual. It didn't work. So I set up my board to work with a FOSSIL
and ran it that way for a month. As far as I could tell all it did was eat
memory - no matter what else I did there were no other effects as far as
the Expander (or the BBS) were concerned.
So, if you are still using a FOSSIL, the EXPANDER will work as is with it,
though I have to admit that I really can't see why you'd want to use one.
BTW, how many of you actually use FOSSILs? I was under the impression that
they were obsolete technology, just like front door mail handlers. At the
time I started this none of the local boards that I called were using them.
They still aren't, even though most run 38400 to the com port. I gather
though that various BBS software designers are not capable of doing their
own COMM/Mail handling routines - otherwise the things wouldn't still be in
use. And considering how complex com routines can be I can't say I wouldn't
do the same <GRIN> though I still recommend finding a BBS package with it's
own internal comm routines.
