.*PRE-GAME MENU*
This is the first menu you will see when entering the game. You will
always be able to get to this menu whether you have already played your
turns for the day or not. You can also select all the commands listed
here without wasting your turns for the day should you want to just keep
up on the News before actually playing that day.
.VIEW INSTRUCTIONS
Allows you to view this Help file. ASCII callers will get one screen at
a time with a (S)top, (C)ontinue, (N)onstop prompt after each page is
displayed. ANSI callers (Color and Graphic) will get a Help Window with
options to 'Fine' scroll up and down, Page Up and Down and First and Last
page.
.READ KNIGHT NEWS
Displays the game news file of activity for each date since the start
of the game. When this option is selected you will be able to read ALL
the News since the beginning of the game or you may enter a (MM-DD),
Month and Day, to begin reading from. This allows you to just keep up
on the current happenings.
.VIEW WINNERS
This option will display the previous Winning Warlords from past games.
Each time the game is won, the winner is listed in this file.
.LIST OTHER WARLORDS
This option displays a list of all the other players and the amount of land
that they currently have.
.BEGIN GAME
Selecting this option will actually start your turns for the day and checks
to see if you have already played. After you select this option you must
play all 5 of your turns or lose them. Everyone has 5 turns each day.
.QUIT GAME
Allows you to leave the game without taking any turns.
.*MAIN MENU*
.PROCEED
This option moves you to the next phase of the game and gives you your
Grain Harvest for the current year, allows you to Buy/Sell your Acres
and Grain, and then the food requirements for your Subjects and Army.
.Land and Grain
Land - At this prompt you may either BUY or SELL your land. The average
buying price is $25 and the average selling price is $10. If you are
patient you can get some good prices.
Grain - At this prompt you may either BUY or SELL your grain. The
average buying price is $1.00 and the average selling price is $.50.
Again, if you are patient you can get some good prices.
BE SURE YOU SAVE ENOUGH GRAIN TO FEED YOUR SUBJECTS AND ARMIES.
.Feeding Your Subjects, Horses and Armies
Subjects - Your Subjects will require 5 bushels of grain each. If you
under feed them your population will tend to decrease and if you over feed
them it will tend to increase. But if you feed them less than 82% of what
they require, they are likely to become hostile and overrun your Kingdom.
This will NOT be a pleasant experience for you.
Armies - Your Soldiers will require 8 bushels of grain each. If you
under feed them they will be immobilized and you will be unable to
participate in any of the Battle options for that round. If you over feed
them, the word may get around and some other soldiers may wander in to your
Kingdom.
Horses - Your horses will require 3 bushels of grain each. If you under feed
them, some of them will wander away in search of food. When your soldiers
have horses to go into battle, they will tend to have a better advantage
over their opponent.
.TAX RATE
This option allows you to set your Tax Rate between 0 and 50%. If you
then over feed your Subjects, you will receive a Tax Return of up to
double the value of the grain you over feed them.
.KNIGHT NEWS
Displays the game news file of activity for each date since the start
of the game. All options here are as they were explained previously.
.LIST OTHER WARLORDS
This option displays a list of all the other players and how much land
they currently have. It is available elsewhere as well. If the word 'Yes'
appears after the player line, this means that you have already attacked them
during this turn and they can't be attacked again. If the word 'No' appears,
then you are free to attack them provided you follow the land limitations.
.YOUR KINGDOM STATUS
This option displays everything you need to know about your position in
the game. The Y command will work at most input prompts throughout the
game.
.HIRE REBEL ASSASSINS
This option will allow you to hire the REBELS to attack your opponent when
he/she plays next. You will be able to use the 'L' command to list all the
players. Then just enter their number. You must have at least 5000 Acres and
$5000 in gold. You can't always trust those REBELS, but this option is worth
the risk. If the attack is carried out, you will receive half of the land
that the REBELS take. A notice will appear when you begin your next turn
following their attack.
.VISIT LOCAL TOWN
This option will take you off to the local town where you will have the
following commands. The town is open once a turn so you will need to take care
of all business each time you visit.
.*LOCAL TOWN MENU*
.LEAVE TOWN
Returns you to your Kingdom. Once you leave the town you may not visit it
again until the next game day (1 turn).
.MARKET MASTER
This will take you to the Market where you will be able to sell your Horses,
Markets, Mills, Foundries, Shipyards or Brothels. You will get a list of
current prices that the market master will offer you. You can also Barter
a little with him, but DON'T PUSH YOUR LUCK. You don't want to make him
mad. The market is a place where you can get the money you need to save
your Kingdom. You might even want to get a little extra for a visit to the
Town Casino.
.GAMBLING CASINO
This speaks for itself. Take your money with you and try to leave the place
with more. The maximum bet and odds change every hand or visit. Place your
bet and pick a number between 1 and 5.
.VISIT BANK
This is another beneficial place. If you have some extra money, make a
deposit. You will receive a variable interest once a day when you stop
by. If you are running a little short on Gold you can also make a withdrawal.
You might even want a little MAD MONEY for the Casino or Brothels.
.VISIT BROTHELS
This is a MUST option if you plan to have all your soldiers ready for Battle.
Your soldiers need to have a night on the town in order to keep their morale
high. If their morale is low you could lose some of them when it comes time
to Battle your opponent. A visit to the Brothels will also yield you gold if
you own any. If you do not own any, you will be required to pay $10 per
soldier.
.POST OFFICE (Mail)
A new feature added to all Digital Interface Software Doors is the ability to
send and receive DOOR MAIL to other players in the game. This is a simplified
version of the E-MAIL offered in most BBS's. You can send and receive as many
pieces of mail as you wish and reply to each one individually. Limitation are
that you only have 15 lines for each piece sent and all mail is automatically
deleted after it is read. This is however, a fun way to do verbal battle from
within the game. If another player has sent you mail, a message will appear at
the Town Menu stating that 'You have Mail Waiting'.
.NOTE
Knight News, Your Stats, and Instructions all work the same as anywhere else
in the game.
.*INVESTMENT MENU*
.QUIT INVESTING
Leaves the Investment menu and proceeds on to the Battle options.
.YOUR KINGDOM STATUS
This option displays everything you need to know about your position in
the game. The Y command will work at most input prompts throughout the
game.
.SELECTING A #
Soldier - $10 - The more you have the more effective you will be in the
Battle Options. Note the limitations imposed under Knights and Foundries.
Horses - $50 - Horses will increase your strength in battle. Soldiers that
are mounted on horses have the advantage over soldiers on foot.
Market - $1000 - 250 required to win - markets are an inexpensive investment
that will produce a good return.
Mill - $2000 - 250 required to win - The more mills you have the larger
your average annual harvest will be.
Castle - $10,000 - 100% required to win - Each Castle investment buys 10% of
the total Castle. With this option you will also receive a FREE KNIGHT!
Foundry - $7000 - Foundries are a poor investment from a financial point
of view, but you will need them to equip your soldiers. You must have 1
Foundry for each complete multiple of 100 soldiers, so you can have up to
99 soldiers with 0 Foundries, up to 199 with 1 Foundry, etc..
Shipyard - $8000 - Shipyards produce the highest return of all investments.
Knight - $25,000 - 50 required to win - Knights produce no return at all,
but are required to Command your Soldiers. You are allowed 20 soldiers
for each Knight.
Brothels - $35,000 - Although these are expensive, they will increase the
morale of your soldiers and help them do better in battle. They also have a
high return investment, but maintaining them is somewhat of a risk should a
band of Rebels ransack them.
.*PRE-BATTLE MENU*
This is where you will select the player you want to do battle with. You
also have the other following options.
.LIST OTHER WARLORDS
This option displays a list of all the other players and how much land
they currently have. It is available elsewhere as well. If the word 'Yes'
appears after the player line, this means that you have already attacked them
during this turn and they can't be attacked again. If the word 'No' appears,
then you are free to attack them provided you follow the land limitations.
.YOUR KINGDOM STATUS
This option displays everything you need to know about your position in
the game. The Y command will work at most input prompts throughout the
game.
.QUIT ATTACKING
Leaves the Battle options without fighting.
.*BATTLE MENU*
Here is where you get to fight the other players, but once you have over
5000 acres, you cannot attack anybody that is less than half your size.
.ATTACK ARMY
Other than Hiring Rebels, this is the only way to gain land from your
opponents while wearing them down.
.ATTACK CASTLE
Here you will attempt to destroy 10% of your opponents castle. He/She
however, does not lose the Knight that came with it if you are successful.
If you are unsuccessful you may still use the other Battle options providing
you still have soldiers left.
.ATTACK KNIGHT
Here you will attempt to steal a Knight from your opponent. You cannot steal
a Knight if your number of Knights plus 1 exceeds the number
of acres/1000 that you have. Example - You have 5000 acres and 5 Knights,
You can't steal a Knight. Example - you have 5001 acres and 5 Knights. Go
for it, you're strong enough.
.NO ATTACK
Leave the Battle ground before someone notices you are there.
.RANDOM ENCOUNTERS
There are several things that can happen to you throughout your session. Most
will happen after the Battle sequence. Not all are bad though, so good Luck.
.*STOCK MARKET REPORT*
This is displayed after any random encounters and shows you what you have
earned on your Investments.
.*FORTIFYING YOUR ARMY*
After you finish your last turn, this option will be displayed. It allows you
to Fortify your Army back to Maximum strength or as many as you have gold for
up to the limitations imposed by Knights and Foundries. You will need all the
soldiers you can get to guard your Kingdom while you are gone.
