Wecome to Kickboxer, a game of fighting and surviving. You start as a
normal every day person who wishes to one day be a man or woman of status.
You begin your fighting career fighting in small gyms and work your way up
in the ranks of your specified martial art.
Upon entering the game, you must first create a character. You must
specify you character's nation of origin and create a style of fighting you
wish to pursue. This style may be real or your own creation.
Then, you must 'roll' your fighter's statistics. There are 5 catagories
which can be rolled. The first one is age. Age determines your character's
ability to handle certain situations, your character's wisdom and of course
to a degree, your character's physical capacity. Height and weight are physica
characteristics of your character. Essentially, the bigger your character is,
the stronger it will be, but if your character is too short and too heavy,
that may also be a disadvantage. Power and speed are your character's physical
abilities. The maximum roll for both of these is 20, meaning that you are
at the maximum abilty for your character's status.
After your character has been created you will be at the main menu. The
following will explain every option available:
[F] Fight: This option is to enter the ring. A display will be shown of
your opponent, along with the cash prize for the match. From
here, you have the option to stand and fight or throw in the
towel. To get a list of attacks available type LIST at the
prompt. It will list all available attacks in Kickboxer.
Your character may only use the attacks available to his/her
belt. To execute an attack, simply type the shorthand version
of the attack. Note, that if you use too many high level
attacks, such as combinations of kicks, your fighter will
grow weary. When this happens, the only option available to
you is the punch (p). After a few punches, you character will
regain some energy, but will still not be as effective. As a
general rule, do not consistently use complex attacks. Mix
in an occasional punch of front kick, since these two require
the least amount of energy and will allow your character to
gain some of his strength back. The fight will continue until
either you or your opponent has been defeated, or a towel is
thrown in. You can view your opponent's health by typing
OPPONENT and you view your health by typing HEALTH. Type ?

[H] Hospital: The hospital will heal and cure your fighter's wounds, for
a fee of course. Your hospital bill will be show to you. If
you pay it, your fighter will be healed and cured, and you
will return to the main menu. However, if you cannot afford
to pay your hospital bill and your health is 0 or below, you
will be forced into retirement and you will have to create a
new character.
[T] Training: The training hall is where you will train and perfect your
skills. If you have enough money and experience to train,
you will recieve your next belt. An experience chart will
not be added to this game because it is my opinion that it
will take something away from the game. As a general rule,
figure the experience needed for the next level is about
double the experience required for the belt.
[C] Challenge Other Users: This allows you to challenge another user in
the ring, porvided that user is not more than one belt lower
in rank than yourself. Scroll through the files of users by
pressing 'n' then 'c' to challenge that user. If you are
able to challenge that user, you will see the opponent status
screen. Fighting is the same to standard fighting.
[S] User Score List: Displays a list of all users who have belts of
white or higher. A top three list will be displayed at the
top of the screen.
