Transcription: The Earth's crust is made up of gigantic pieces called plates floating on a thick layer of liquid rock. Most of the plates carry continents. For over 200 million years, the plates have moved slowly around the globe and have carried the continents in different directions. This is known as continental drift, and it has affected the evolution of different species in isolated continents. Some plates have drifted closer to others, allowing species to move from continents continent to continent.
