Use the SCAN button to date the bones that you find buried in the three tunnels. Compare the date of the bones that you find with the date of the dinosaur bones that you are looking for. Dilophosaurus was a large, bipedal (two-legged) carnivore (flesh-eater) that lived approximately 200 MYA (million years ago), during the Jurassic Period. It was slender-framed, and had a very long tail and two parallel, bony ridges on its skull. The neck was strong but flexible, and was supported by cervical (neck) ribs attached to the vertebrae (neck bones). The short, sturdy forelimbs bore four-fingered, grasping hands; these had sharp claws on the first three fingers. This saurischian ("lizard-hipped") dinosaur's hip joint supported hindlimbs that were long and powerful; they ended in three long, forward-facing, sharp-clawed toes. The tail was slim and long. The skull had an unusually deep gap in the front part of the top jaw, known as the subnarial gap.
