There are two saurischian subgroups: flesh-eating theropods ("beast-footed" dinosaurs) and plant- eating sauropodomorphs ( "lizard -footed" dinosaurs). Ornithischians (all plant-eaters) are divided into three main groups: birdlike ornithopods ( "bird-footed" dinosaurs), armored thyreophorans ( "shield-bearing" dinosaurs), and horned or thick-skulled marginocephalians ("margined -headed" dinosaurs).
