The sculptor Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins had been commissioned to create models of prehistoric animals for Crystal Palace park. Before the models were completed, a dinner for 21 leading scientists and dignitaries was held inside the Iguanodon. SCIENTIST GUESTS Among the guests were Gideon Mantell, Georges Cuvier, Richard IGUANODON FINDS Owen, and William Buckland.
