OCR: SLIM FOOTBONES Tyrannosaurus, and other theropods, had long, slim footbones. Like the thigh and shin, the foot was a lever to increase running efficiency. TOE STRAPS Bands of strong, elastic ligaments wrapped around the muscles of each toe. These strapped the muscles and tendons next to the bone. FUSED BONES Tyrannosaurus' foot bones were fused together at the top for extra strength. SHARP CLAWS Tyrannosaurus had three forward-pointing toes with sharp claws which helped to keep its balance. REAR TOE The three main toes were large and strong, designed for walking and running.
