PILLAR-LIKE LEGS Tyrannosaurus was a biped and so balanced its immense 5.7 tonne- body (6 1/2 tons) on STURDY HINDLIMBS its two hindlimbs. Tyrannosauruswas strong enough to walk all day at around 8 km/h (5 mph) in search of food. POWERFUL MUSCLES Large leg muscles enabled Tyrannosaurus to sprint after prey at speeds of 22 km/h (13 1/2 mph) over short distances.
