OCR: X-RAY X-RAYS ARE A FORM OF electromagnetic radiation - energy that can be transmitted through space in the form of waves. They have wavelengths ranging from 0.1 to 10 nanometers - a nanometer is one billionth of a meter. Intermediate between ultraviolet rays and gamma rays, they are emitted by high- energy, hot celestial sources, such as matter spiraling into a black hole.
