OCR: SYNCHRONOUS ORBIT THE TERM SYNCHRONOUS ORBIT describes the path of an artificial satellite that completes each orbit of the Earth in the same time that the Earth rotates once on its axis. If a satellite is in a synchronous orbit that is inclined at an angle to the Earth's equator, the satellite follows a path over the Earth's surface that repeats every 24 hours.
