OCR: POLAR ORBIT IN POLAR ORBIT, a satellite travels in a north-south direction as the object it is orbiting turns in an east-west direction below the satellite. The satellite travels over both poles. This means that the whole surface of the object being orbited can be observed over a certain period of time.
