OCR: INFRARED RADIATION INFRARED RADIATION is a form of electromagnetic radiation - energy that can be transmitted through space in the form of waves. Infrared radiation has wavelengths ranging from 1 mm to 0.7 microns - one micron is one millionth of a meter. Infrared rays are produced in appreciable amounts by all except the coldest celestial objects.
