OCR: EQUINOX AN EQUINOX IS a point in time when day and night are of equal length. Equinoxes occur when the Earth's axis of rotation is pointed neither toward nor away from the Sun and the plane that passes through the Earth's equator also passes exactly through the Sun. There are two equinoxes a year, on about March 21 and September 23.
