OCR: ANTICYCLONE .............................................. AN ANTICYCLONE IS a large rotating mass of gas in the atmosphere of a planet that is characterized by an area of high pressure at its center. An anticyclone is formed when gas in the atmosphere moves from the warm area around the equator to colder areas to the north and south. The feature known as the Great Red Spot in the atmosphere of Jupiter is an anticyclone.
