  18.      BAKERSFIELD, Calif., June 15, 1993 -- Mustang Software, Inc. (MSI), the
  19. industry's only supplier of both BBS and communications software, has
  20. introduced new versions of its WILDCAT! BBS (v3.9) and QmodemPro
  21. communications software (v1.5) that support the new Remote Imaging Protocol
  22. (RIP) graphical interface.

  24.      The new software packages are the first in the industry to integrate RIP
  25. for both the host and terminal user.
  26.  
  27.      RIP is the emerging graphical standard for the bulletin board system
  28. (BBS) industry and introduces new graphics performance levels for both sysops
  29. and users.  The RIP-equipped WILDCAT! v3.9 can send full-screen graphics to
  30. callers' and lets mouse users select BBS commands by clicking on selection
  31. buttons or screen prompts -- very much like popular online services such as
  32. Prodigy and America Online.  WILDCAT! 3.9 still retains full support for
  33. standard text and ANSI.

  35.      In order for a caller to access the WILDCAT! v3.9's RIP graphics, the
  36. caller needs to use RIP-equipped Communications software such as QmodemPro
  37. v1.5.  Like its WILDCAT! counterpart, QmodemPro v1.5 allows callers to view
  38. full-screen graphics and use a mouse when connected to a RIP-ready BBS.  RIP
  39. also lets the QmodemPro caller select BBS commands by clicking on graphic
  40. selection buttons or screen prompts.

  42.      "Adding RIP support to QmodemPro makes this new graphics level available
  43. to the millions of WILDCAT! users," said Jim Harrer, MSI President and CEO.
  44. "Our goal is to make QmodemPro the tool of choice for connections to mail
  45. systems, whether it is a BBS, CompuServe, MCI or other online services."

  48. New WILDCAT! FAX-Send Module Gives Sysops Custom Control
  49.  
  50.      In addition to its RIP interface, WILDCAT! v3.9 now has a FAX-send module
  51. included with the wcPRO utility package.  The FAX module allows WILDCAT!
  52. sysops with fax modems to make text and graphics .PCX files available to
  53. callers via the FAX.  Callers can select FAX documents while online and have
  54. them sent to their FAX machine or to another number.  Because accessing the
  55. FAX module is security-defined, the sysop has total control over the FAX
  56. access feature.  The sysop has the customizing option of making packages of
  57. FAX documents available to different groups of callers.

  59.      Information on the FAX cover page is entered by the caller and the
  60. document(s) is prepared for sending by the FAX module.  The caller then has a
  61. choice of having the requested FAXes sent after hanging up or sent immediately
  62. over another communications port or PC on a network.

  64. Addition WILDCAT! v3.9 features include:
  65.  
  66.      1.  A "gentle reminder" notification to the caller if BBS log-off is
  67.      attempted before downloading all files that have been marked for
  68.      download.
  69.  
  70.      2.   Automatic detection of a remote caller's emulation (ANSI, RIPscrip
  71.      or Doorway) -- allowing callers to dial in over different terminal
  72.      packages with WILDCAT! deciding "on the fly" which emulation is best.

  74.      3.   Increased selections of No-color, ANSI-color, RIP or Auto-detect
  75.      from the [Y]our settings menu.  If Autodetect is selected, the user gets
  76.      the screen type that WILDCAT! detects at log-in.

  78. QmodemPro v1.5 Continues Adding Features
  79.  
  80.      In addition to its RIP-ready interface, QmodemPro v1.5 has added modem
  81. pool support for the NCSI/ACS network interface; the Articom interface from
  82. LANtastic; and Rockwell's RPI modem chip interface, adding v.42bis and MNP5
  83. support for 2400 baud modems using the Rockwell chip.

  85.      "These new features, led by RIP, continue the growing sophistication of
  86. communications software and mark another step in the ongoing maturation
  87. process of BBS and communications software," Harrer said.  "We expect broad
  88. market acceptance plus a new level of corporate communications users."

  90.      WILDCAT! v3.9 is available immediately to any WILDCAT! v3.x user for $20
  91. plus shipping and handling.  Standalone retail pricing begins at $129 for a
  92. single-line version.

  94.      QmodemPro v1.5 is available immediately at no charge for registered
  95. QmodemPro 1.0 users and $35 for Qmodem-registered users.  For first-time
  96. users, the retail price is $99 plus shipping and handling.
