With the video help of Clarissa Explains it All's Melissa Joan Hart and an easy interface, kids can produce multimedia presentations, mini-movies, usic videos and more. This CD-Rom package is powerful enough to import files created in commercial production tools. Marshall Mcluhan would be proud. Look for it in the fall.
If you know someone who is itching to become a member of that campfire storytelling club, The Midnight Society, they should look into Viacom's new CD-ROM, "Are You Afraid Of The Dark?:The Tale of Orpheo's Curse." To achieve this singular honor, the player must guide a story begun by one of the Society's regulars. There are lots of puzzles to solve, classic filmic design, and the familiar characters and setting of Nickelodeon's popular program. Don't be afraid to seek out the Tale of Orpheo's Curse on CD-ROM this fall.
Filming has barely begun on MTV's Club Dead, a CD-ROM adventure that takes its fast-editing style from the infamous cable music video channel. The story takes place in a Westworld-like vacation resort, which the player has been hired to repair as a "Cyber Plumber." Don't be put off by the fact that the press kit refers to the game as "mind-melting." Be on the lookout for this in mid 1995.
In the meantime, here's something to sink your teeth into. Last year's popular interactive CD-ROM movie, Dracula Unleashed, has been reformatted on a special combination disc for both PC and Macintosh. Dracula Unleashed incorporates over 90 minutes of video with over 40 live actors into a story based on Bram Stoker's legendary gothic novel. The player takes on the role of Alexander Morris, brother of Quincey Morris from the book, who must, of course, seek out and destroy the title vampire.
