The JVC booth was literally jam-packed full with goodies - gaming goodies, that is. The first to catch the eye of most was Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures for the Super NES. Indy Jones is a one player action/adventure game scheduled for release in the last quarter of this year. This Indy game captures all the famous movie scenes into one brilliant and beautiful cart. The graphics were very nice, and the storyline was easy to follow as it was based on the trilogy of movies.
The final chapter in yet another trilogy is the Super Return of the Jedi for the Super NES. Slated for release around the end of the year, Return of the Jedi should be just as popular as its other Star Wars predecessors. As the gamer, you even have the choice of playing as several "stars" from Luke Skywalker to Princess Leia. Super Return of the Jedi is movie madness on your SNES.
Fatal Fury Special, the SNK smash hit, is being brought to another platform, the Sega CD. Sometime near the end of the year, look for this "monster" fighting game to make a bang as it is released. Fight against a fearsome fifteen enemies, including all bosses in every Fatal Fury game. Fatal Fury Special looks as though it could be one of the best Sega CD fighting games.
For those that are not content with only one SNK arcade game coming to the Sega CD, Samurai Shodown is just for you. Fighters from all over the earth gather in Samurai Shodown each with their own "Methods of Mayhem" killer moves. Twelve different fighters to choose from and four levels of difficulty should make Samurai Shodown a fighting game to remember. Expect Samurai Shodown around the end of the year.
If you have not noticed, JVC is cranking out the fighting games, and Rise of the Robots is no exception. Coming in the final quarter of this year for the Sega CD and Genesis, Rise of the Robots allows the gamer to play as a fighter that is half man, half droid. The computer's AI is high enough to memorize the moves that you execute most. Rise of the Robots is one of the best graphic appearing games that I have seen for the Sega CD or Genesis.
If you like ghostbusting, you will like the concept and story behind Ghoul Patrol. Your job: Bust, destroy, capture and just plain kill all the ghost that you possibly can. Not only will you face futuristic ghosts, but face those nasties of the past, too. You may have thought you were safe, but you'd better sleep with one eye open, especially around October, as that is Ghoul Patrol's general release date.
For the race fan inside of you, check out World Championship Rally for the Super NES or Sega CD. This 1-4 player game simulates the final stage in one of the greatest road rallies ever. Drive your choice of several cars during the day and night through nasty weather conditions. The Sega CD Version has 35 actual British Rally race stages, as well as digitized video footage.
Based on the Van Damme movie, Time Cop will be available for Super NES and Sega CD. In this one player action/adventure game, you must travel on a manhunt through time to halt the action of a mad techno-demon to change the way that history was made. The digitized gaming character is not Jean Claude Van Damme, but you won't notice the difference.
Available for the Sega CD as we speak, Star Wars: Rebel Assault is an action game and a flight simulator wrapped in one neat package. Pilot four different space crafts, including the X-Wing and Snowspeeder. Star Wars: Rebel Assault features non-stop action through fifteen levels of proven "Star Wars action."
The multi-depth RPG, Dungeon Master II: Skullkeep for the Sega CD is scheduled to be released in the later part of August. As Torham Zed, you (and your soldiers) must find the four keys to open the doors of Skullkeep before the evil TechMages destroy it.
From what you have now read, it should be easy for you to relate to the three most commonly used words at JVC: Busy, busy, busy.
