*** THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE ONLY APPLIES IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY RUNNING ***
*** VERSION 1.20 OF LITTLE BLACK BOOK/2 (OR LATER) ***
*** IF YOU ARE ALREADY RUNNING 1.20 OR LATER PLEASE IGNORE THIS DOCUMENT ***
If you are running a previous version of Little Black Book/2 the upgrade
procedure is quite simple:
1. Run your old version of Little Black Book/2, select SETUP DISPLAY,
write down your group names, you will need to add these back after
the upgrade. If you have already over-written the old executable
just type TYPE *.CNF, then write down just the 5 lines of words,
same effect.
2. Run UPGRADE.EXE which is provided along with this file.
- The file to be converted is your existing database in the file *.lbb
where the * is the exact filename.
- The new database filename must be unique and of the form *.lbb, it
cannot be the same as an existing file (including the name of the file
to be converted) or the existing file will be overwritten.
3. Repeat step 2 for each of your *.lbb files in sequence.
4. Delete the *.cnf files, they will be in the form LBBOOK.CNF and also will
exist for each of the database files.
For Example: If you had a database phonebook.lbb you will have a
corollary file phonebook.cnf, phonebook.cnf would need to be deleted.
This step is required because there is very little corollation between
the old style *.cnf files and the new ones, it is much easier to just
delete them and start over.
5. Copy the new files into the appropriate directory and run it as before.
Be aware that the first time you run it you will need to OPEN a
database file and reconfigure the SETUP settings.
6. Registered users: Don't delete the file LBBOOK.KEY from your directory,
it's your key/license and is still valid.
