  6. NOISE adds sound events for Windows 3.1 and more sounds for the 
  7. Windows-system-sounds.
  8.  
  9. It displays two frames with six comboboxes and six checkboxes each.
  10. The comboboxes display the soundfiles for the associated events.
  11. You can change these soundfiles by clicking them and choosing a new
  12. one in the then displayed dialogue.

  16. The upper frame contains the sounds for the Windows-system-messages:

  18. - Standard                   - Information (Asterisk)
  19. - Exclamation                - Windows-Start
  20. - Question                   - Windows-End
  21.  
  22. The status of the checkbox next to the comboboxes determines whether
  23. NOISE changes the associated system-sound next time it is started.
  24. If the checkbox is checked, NOISE will choose randomly one of the six
  25. soundfiles as the new system-sound.

  27. NOTE: NOISE will not change the critical error (hand) message.

  31. NOISE adds more sounds for the following events in Windows:
  32.  
  33. - program start              - active window maximized
  34. - program end                - active window back to normal
  35. - change of active window    - active window minimized
  36.  
  37. These are displayed in the lower frame.

  39. The status of the checkbox next to the comboboxes determines whether
  40. NOISE plays a sound-file when the associated event occurs.

  42. The played sound-file will be changed cyclically according to the 
  43. comboboxes after the event occurred.

  45. NOTE: Because usually more than one of these events occur at the same
  46.       time (each start or end of a program is also a change of the
  47.       active window, programs call subroutines with their own
  48.       window etc.), NOISE sets priorities among these events and
  49.       won't play a sound file more often than every 2.5 seconds.

  53. Below the two frames are four buttons.  
  54.  
  55. The leftmost with the caption "OK und zu Symbol" saves the changes 
  56. into NOISE.INI and minimizes NOISE.
  57.  
  58. To its right, the button "Abbrechen und Ende" cancels the operation
  59. and ends NOISE.

  61. The next button, "Hilfe..." displays a help-screen in german.
  62.  
  63. The rightmost, "Symbol sichtbar", is actually no button but a checkbox.
  64. If it is checked the NOISE-Icon will remain visible. If you uncheck
  65. this checkbox and click "OK und zu Symbol", NOISE will not be visible
  66. and you can't access it any more. You can still kill NOISE using the 
  67. Task-Manager.

  73. Execute "SETUP.EXE".
  74. You must have a copy of VBRUN300.DLL in you Windows\System-Directory.
  75. This run-time library is available virtually all over CIS.
