  3. Users' Manual for QDOC.EXE - 
  4.            Documentation Utility for QCDRUN (TM) CD-ROM Library
  5.

  8.         QDOC.EXE is the Documentation Utility for the QCDRUN CD-ROM 
  9. Library System for Microsoft Windows. QDOC allows you to read and
  10. print on-line the Users' Manuals and other documentation files
  11. installed to your hard disk with QCDRUN. 
  12.  
  13.          QDOC is a viewing shell that calls NOTEPAD (which it 
  14. assumes is located in your Windows directory) to let you read ASCII 
  15. documentation files from your hard disk and print them out. (You may 
  16. prefer to use QDOC to print them all out and remove the documentation 
  17. files from your hard drive to save space.) The one exception is the 
  18. "Print Registration Form" function, which instead calls Windows WRITE 
  19. (which it again assumes is located in your Windows directory) to 
  20. complete and print out a formatted registration form, stamped with 
  21. date, time, and identification information (your name and company 
  22. name) as you entered during QCDRUN installation.

  27.         Click "Yes" in the menu item "Do You Want to Print or Read
  28.            Documentation?" from within QINSTALL, QCD, or QLIB.

  33. Please be aware:        
  34.  
  35.         At any prompt in QDOC - Clicking "Cancel" unconditionally
  36. terminates the program and returns control to the calling subroutine.
  37.  
  38.         All mouse operations in QDOC use the (standard) left mouse
  39. button.
  40.  
  41.         Any timed Message or Display window (without an "OK" button) 
  42. can be closed, allowing the program to proceed ahead to the set 
  43. time (which is a maximum of 5 seconds), by placing the cursor in 
  44. the window and clicking the left mouse button.

  47.         After the initial menu ("Do You Want to Read or Print 
  48. Documentation?") QDOC displays a menu of the available options.

  50.         These are:
  51.                 - Summary Description - file FILE_ID.DIZ
  52.                 - QCDRUN Release Notes and License
  53.                                       - file README.TXT
  54.                 - QCD Manual          - file QCD.TXT
  55.                 - QDOC Manual         - file QDOC.TXT (this file)
  56.                 - QINSTALL Manual     - file QINST.TXT
  57.                 - QLIB Manual         - file QLIB.TXT
  58.                 - Registration Form   - file REGISFRM.WRI
  59.            and  - Exit to Main Program
  60.            
  61.          All documentation files except REGISFRM.WRI are in pure 
  62. ASCII form and viewed or printed through NOTEPAD.EXE. (An ASCII 
  63. Registration Form, REGISFRM.TXT, is supplied separately in the QCDRUN 
  64. working directory.) REGISFRM.WRI is viewed and printed using WRITE.EXE 
  65. to allow Clipboard text insertions not available in NOTEPAD. Requesting 
  66. any of these displays the file in the left half of your screen. The 
  67. file display window can be maximized to fill your display, resized 
  68. or moved around the display, or scrolled to allow you to read the 
  69. full file on-screen, in the normal Windows manner.

  71.         After you have selected and displayed your file, a menu 
  72. appears in the middle of the display offering three options 
  73.         
  74.         - View Another File;
  75.         - Print Current File; OR
  76.         - Exit to Main Program.
  77.         
  78.         If the menu obstructs your view of the file, it can be 
  79. dragged elsewhere on the screen by the mouse in the normal Windows 
  80. manner.        
  81.         
  82.         You can read the current file on-screen without making 
  83. another specific menu selection. 
  84.  
  85.         Selecting "View Another File" closes the file displayed 
  86. and calls up the file selection menu.
  87.  
  88.         Selecting "Print Current File" sends the appropriate key 
  89. commands to NOTEPAD to print out the file being displayed and exit 
  90. back to the file selection menu.

  92.         A variation of "Print Current File" is "Print Registration
  93. Form", which appears in the menu only when REGISFRM.WRI is being 
  94. viewed. Selecting this inserts the date and time, your name, and 
  95. your company name into the on-screen Registration Form, pauses 
  96. execution to allow you to complete the form on-screen from the 
  97. keyboard. Pressing F10 resumes processing, printing out the 
  98. Registration Form before exiting back to the file selection menu.

  100.         Selecting "Exit to Main Program" completes the current 
  101. operations and returns control to the calling program (QINSTALL, 
  102. QLIB, or QCD).
