  128. Installation Notes
  129. ------------------
  130. Use the installation utility contained on the "HP DeskJet 520 Printer 
  131. Drivers for DOS applications" diskette to copy the printer driver files 
  132. to the driver subdirectory on your hard disk (usually \HG3\DRIVER).
  133.  
  134. IMPORTANT NOTE
  135. --------------
  136. The HP DeskJet 520 printer is compatible with the HP DeskJet 510 prin-
  137. ter.  The Harvard Graphics driver included on this driver disk was de-
  138. veloped for the HP DeskJet 510 printer and is recommended for use with 
  139. your HP DeskJet 520 printer.  Remember to select the HP DeskJet 510 as 
  140. your printer model when selecting a printer driver in Harvard Graphics.

  143. Setting Up Harvard Graphics
  144. ---------------------------
  145.  1. Start the Harvard Graphics program. 
  146.  
  147.  2. From the F6-Main Menu, press 8 (Setup).
  148.  
  149.  3. Press 5 (Printer 1).
  150.  
  151.  4. From the Printer 1 Setup Menu press F3 (Choices).
  152.  
  153.  5. Use the down arrow key to highlight "HP DeskJet 510".
  154.  
  155.  6. Press the down arrow key to position the cursor across from
  156.     "Output Port".
  157.  
  158.  7. Press F3 (Choices).
  159.  
  160.  8. Use the arrow keys to select the port where your printer is connected,
  161.     then press <Enter>.
  162.  
  163.  9. Press the down arrow key to position the cursor across from "Default
  164.     paper size", then press F3 (Choices).
  165.  
  166. 10. Use the arrow keys to select the correct paper size, then press <Enter>.
  167.  
  168. 11. Use the arrow keys to position the cursor across from "Use spooler".
  169.  
  170. 12. Press F3 (Choices), and select "Yes".
  171.     
  172.     NOTE: Setting "Use spooler" to "Yes" activates the integral spooler 
  173.     and allows you to return to Harvard Graphics sooner when printing.  
  174.     With it set to "No", you'll have to wait until the print job is 
  175.     nearly finished in order to continue working.  If you do not wish 
  176.     to use the integral spooler, (for example, when using an external 
  177.     hardware or software spooler) set "Use spooler" to "No".
  178.  
  179. 13. Use the arrow keys to position the cursor across from "Quality".
  180.  
  181. 14. Press F3 (Choices).
  182.  
  183. 15. Select one of the following "Quality" options, then press <Enter>.
  184.      
  185.     High:     Presentation/best quality. 
  186.     Medium:   Normal/medium quality (faster printing than "High").
  187.     Draft:    Use to "proof" your work before printing a final copy.
  188.  
  189. 16. Press <Enter>.
  190.  
  191. 17. Press 1 (Program Defaults).
  192.  
  193. 18. Using the arrow keys, move the cursor down to the bottom of the screen
  194.     across from "Max. spooler size (K):".
  195.  
  196. 19. Type 3072 as the spooler size, then press <Enter>.
  197.     
  198.     NOTE:  This sets the spooler size to approximately 3Mb.  Since 
  199.     Harvard Graphics creates this 3Mb file on your hard disk, make sure 
  200.     that you have enough disk space to accommodate it.  Lowering the 
  201.     spooler size will increase the time it will take to free up your 
  202.     PC while printing.  If you are using an external spooler (hardware 
  203.     or software solution), set the "Use spooler" option to "No" in the 
  204.     Printer Setup Menus.
  205.  
  206. 20. Press the Esc key.
  207.  
  208.  
  209. Printing from Harvard Graphics 3.0
  210. ----------------------------------
  211.  1. From the F6-Main Menu press 5 (Output).
  212.  
  213.  2. Press 1 (Printer 1).
  214.  
  215.  3. Check to see if all of the printing information is correct, then press
  216.     F10-Continue to print.
  217.  
  218.  
  219. Miscellaneous Notes
  220. -------------------
  221. If white areas of your chart print black (reversed B&W), you may need to
  222. make the following change to your printer setup configuration;
  223.  
  224.  1. From the F6-Main Menu press 8 (Setup).
  225.  
  226.  2. Press 5 (Printer 1).
  227.  
  228.  3. From the Printer 1 Setup Menu select F8 (Options).

  230.  4. From the Printer Options menu set "Reverse black and white" to "No".

  260. Introduction
  261. ------------
  262. Lotus printer device drivers are software programs that enable
  263. printers to print text and graphs from Lotus 1-2-3 Release 2.3/2.4 on
  264. DOS-based PCs.
  265.

  267. IMPORTANT NOTE
  268. --------------
  269. The HP DeskJet 520 printer is compatible with the HP DeskJet 510 printer.  
  270. The Lotus(R) 1-2-3(R) driver included on this driver disk was developed 
  271. for the HP DeskJet 510 printer and is recommended for use with your HP 
  272. DeskJet 520 printer.  Remember to select the HP DeskJet 510 as your 
  273. printer model when selecting a printer driver in Lotus(R) 1-2-3(R).

  275. The DeskJet 510 driver included on the "HP DeskJet 520 Printer Drivers for
  276. DOS applications" diskette is intended to create output in the WYSIWYG 
  277. (:Print) publishing environment of 1-2-3 for DOS.  This driver is not 
  278. intended for use in the 1-2-3 native mode (/Print).  However, the "HP
  279. DeskJet+ and 500" driver (shipped with 1-2-3) will allow monochrome
  280. printing from the 1-2-3 native mode.

  283. Installation
  284. ------------
  285. To properly install the printer driver files for your DeskJet 520 printer,
  286. you'll need to run the Lotus INSTALL program from your hard disk, then 
  287. insert the "HP DeskJet 520 Printer Drivers for DOS applications" diskette
  288. in a floppy drive when prompted.  For additional information, refer to the 
  289. instructions in Chapter 4 of Getting Started (if you have Release 2.3) or 
  290. Chapter 5 of Getting Started (if you have Release 2.4).
  291.  
  292. Follow these general guidelines:
  293.  
  294.  1. Select "Change Selected Equipment".
  295.  
  296.  2. Select "Add New Drivers to the Library".
  297.  
  298.  3. Insert the DeskJet 520 Driver Disk into a floppy drive.
  299.  
  300.  4. Type the name of the floppy drive when prompted by the Lotus INSTALL
  301.     program (e.g., A or B).
  302.  
  303.  5. Select "Modify the Current Driver Set".
  304.  
  305.  6. Select "Graphics Printer", "HP", then "DeskJet 520".
  306.  
  307.  7. Select "Return to Previous Menu".
  308.  
  309.  8. Select "Save the Current Driver Set", then <Enter> to accept the
  310.     default 123 file name.

  312.  9. Press <Enter> at the "GENERATING FONTS" screen.

  314. 10. Highlight one of the font options...then press <Enter>.

  316. 11. Highlight "Yes" ...then press <Enter>.

  321. Setting Up WYSIWYG
  322. ------------------
  323.  In general, you should do the following;

  325.  1. Select :, Print, Config, Printer  ...then use the arrow keys to 
  326.     select "HP DeskJet 510 Paper" as the printer and media type.

  328.  2. Press <Enter>.
  329.  
  330.  3. Select Interface  ...then use the arrow keys to select the port where
  331.     your printer is connected  ...then press <Enter>.
  332.  
  333.  4. Select Bin, then Single-Sheet.
  334.  
  335.  5. Press <Enter>.
  336.  
  337.  6. Select the Orientation (Portrait or Landscape) ...then press <Enter>.

  339.  7. Select Quit twice to return to your spreadsheet.

  342. Printing From WYSIWYG
  343. ---------------------
  344. The following steps assume that the WYSIWYG add-in program is loaded.

  346.  1. Select ":" to access the WYSIWYG command line.
  347.  
  348.  2. Select Print, Range, Set ...to select the cells you want to print.
  349.  
  350.  3. Select Go  ...to print.
  351.  
  352.  
  353. Miscellaneous Notes
  354. -------------------
  355.  1. The DeskJet 510 printer driver is intended for use in WYSIWYG and
  356.     PrintGraph only.
  357.  
  358.  2. Graphics will print on either paper or transparencies.
  359.  
  360.  3. For normal printing in WYSIWYG, the Paper Bin setting should be set to
  361.     "Single-Sheet" for correct page output.
  362.     Select ":", P(Print), C(Config), B(Bin), S(Single-Sheet).
  363.  
  364. This driver was designed to support the graphic printing capabilities of the 
  365. DeskJet 520 printer in WYSIWYG mode.  For best results when printing ASCII 
  366. text based spreadsheets, it is recommended that you use the"DeskJet+, 500" 
  367. driver (shipped with 1-2-3) in the 1-2-3 Native Mode for faster results.

  404. Copying the Driver Files
  405. ------------------------
  406. Copying and installing the driver files for 1-2-3 is a 3-step process.
  407.  
  408. 1.  Copy the driver files (using the DRIVER.EXE program contained on the
  409.     "HP DeskJet 520 Printer Drivers for DOS applications" diskette) to the 
  410.     1-2-3 directory on your hard disk.  NOTE: The files that are copied and 
  411.     decompressed are font files (*.LRF).
  412.  
  413. 2.  Run the INSTDRV.BAT utility contained on the "HP DeskJet 520 Printer
  414.     Drivers for DOS applications" diskette. This utility merges files 
  415.     contained on the floppy with those present on your hard disk (in the 
  416.     1-2-3 directory).  (See below for instructions.)
  417.  
  418. 3.  Run the Lotus INSTALL program (on your hard disk) to add the drivers
  419.     to your library.
  420.  
  421.  
  422. Using the "INSTDRV.BAT" Utility
  423. -------------------------------
  424. Use the installation utility, "INSTDRV.BAT", contained on the "HP DeskJet 
  425. 520 Printer Drivers for DOS applications" diskette to copy the printer 
  426. driver files to the 1-2-3 directory on your hard disk.
  427.  
  428.  1. Insert the DeskJet 520 DOS Driver Disk into a floppy drive.
  429.  
  430.  2. From the DOS prompt on your floppy drive (e.g., A: or B:), run 
  431.     INSTDRV.BAT by typing INSTDRV followed by the full path name of your 
  432.     1-2-3 directory and the letter of your floppy drive (the floppy drive 
  433.     where this disk is located).
  434.  
  435.     For example:  INSTDRV C:\123R3 B  ...then <Enter>.
  436.  
  437.     In this example the B: drive is the floppy drive where the driver disk
  438.     is located.  This batch file will copy all the necessary additional 
  439.     files to the 1-2-3 subdirectory and will modify the INSTALL.DDF file 
  440.     already present in the 1-2-3 subdirectory. The existing INSTALL.DDF
  441.     file will be renamed INSTALL.BAK.
  442.

  444. Using the Lotus(R) Install Program
  445. ----------------------------------
  446.  1. From the 1-2-3 directory on your hard disk type INSTALL ...then <Enter>.
  447.       
  448.       NOTE:  Make sure you have copied the WYSIWYG program to your hard
  449.       disk during the 1-2-3 installation.  The following procedures will
  450.       vary slightly if you have not yet completed the Lotus Install 
  451.       program's "First-Time Installation" process.  We recommend that you 
  452.       complete the First-Time Installation without installing printers,
  453.       then follow the steps below to modify your installation and set up
  454.       your DeskJet 520.
  455.  
  456.  2. Highlight "Change Selected Equipment" ...then press <Enter>.
  457.  
  458.  3. Highlight "Modify Current DCF" ...then press <Enter>.
  459.  
  460.  4. Highlight "Change Selected Printer" ...then press <Enter>.
  461.  
  462.  5. Highlight "HP" ...then press <Enter>.
  463.  
  464.  6. Press the up arrow to select "HP DeskJet 510" ...then press <Enter>.
  465.  
  466.  7. Press <Enter> again to select "Paper".
  467.  
  468.       NOTE:  If you don't want to use transparencies with your printer, 
  469.       you can skip to step #12.  Otherwise continue with step #8.
  470.  
  471.  8. Highlight "Change Selected Printer" ...then press <Enter>.
  472.  
  473.  9. Highlight "HP" ...then press <Enter>.
  474.  
  475. 10. Press the up arrow to select "HP DeskJet 510" ...then press <Enter>.
  476.  
  477. 11. Highlight "Transparency" ...then press <Enter>.
  478.  
  479. 12. Press <Enter> (to Return to Menu).
  480.  
  481. 13. Highlight "Save Changes" ...then press <Enter>.
  482.  
  483. 14. Press <Enter> to accept the changes you've made.
  484.  
  485. 15. At this point in the installation you may need to have your 1-2-3 
  486.     master disks available.  Type the letter for the floppy disk drive 
  487.     you'll be using ...then press <Enter>.
  488.  
  489. 16. In the "Generating Fonts" opening screen press <Enter> to continue.
  490.  
  491. 17. Highlight one of the font options ...then press <Enter>.
  492.  
  493. 18. Highlight "Yes" ...then press <Enter>.
  494.  
  495. 19. Press any key to complete the installation.
  496.  
  497.  
  498. Setting Up 1-2-3
  499. ----------------
  500. In general, you should do the following;
  501.  
  502.  1. Select /, Worksheet, Global, Default, Printer, Name  ...then use the
  503.     arrow keys to select "HP DeskJet 510 Graphics Paper" as your default
  504.     printer and media ...then press <Enter>.
  505.  
  506.  2. Select Interface  ...then use the arrow keys to select the port where
  507.     your printer is connected  ...then press <Enter>. (SEE NOTE BELOW)
  508.  
  509.  3. Select Pg-Length, type 60 (for US Ltr Paper), then press <Enter>.
  510.  
  511.  4. Select Quit, Update ...to save your default settings  ...then Quit.
  512.  
  513.  
  514. Printing From WYSIWYG
  515. ---------------------
  516. The following steps assume that the WYSIWYG add-in program is loaded.
  517. (If not, press Alt-F10 to load the WYSIWYG program.)
  518.  
  519.  1. Select ":" to access the WYSIWYG command line.
  520.  
  521.  2. Select Print, Range, Set ...to select the cells you want to print.
  522.  
  523.  3. Select Configuration, Printer ...then use the arrow keys to select
  524.     either "HP DeskJet 510 Paper" or "HP DeskJet 510 Transparency".
  525.     Press <Enter>.
  526.  
  527.  4. Select the desired Resolution ...then press <Enter>.
  528.     NOTE:  "Final" = 300 dots per inch resolution

  854. advantage of hardware superscript and subscript positioning.  This is
  855. necessary when you are printing graphics adjacent to text and are using

  858. Stacked envelopes (using MailList) will print with a wide left margin unless
  859. you create a macro to select landscape printing rather than choosing envel-
  860. opes.  The minimum left margin is approximately 0.5" in landscape mode,

  863. Graphics printing in landscape orientation is not supported.

  865. A graphic image that overlaps another graphic image may cause one of the
