This package contains batch files and utilities to implement the
method I use to invoke PCAnyWhere ]I[ from the FDServer function of
FrontDoor 1.99.
You will need to tailor the two AUTOEXEC.xxx files to suit the paths
on your particular system.
Put the PAW.BAT file in a directory that is in your DOS path... same
goes for the SWAPNAME.COM and BOOT.COM programs. Thanks to Vern Buerg for
SwapName, and to Ray Gwinn for BOOT.COM. BOOT is contained within the
supplied copy of X00V111C.ZIP.
Put the two AUTOEXEC.xxx programs in your C:\ (root) directory.
Set up PCAnyWhere ]I[ per the instructions in the PCAW manual. The
batch files supplied in this archive assume your PCAnyWhere directory is
E:\PCAW. Change it if it is different on your system.
Set up a password for the FDServer function of FD.
When you have it all installed per these instructions, this is how to
use it:
1) Format a message in your remote system (I will assume you are using
FD's FM.EXE editor to format the message). Lets assume the password for
your FDSERVER is "PASSWORD". The destination for the message is "FDServer",
on X:X/XXX (substitute your system's Zone:Net/Node number). The text of
the message to FD server is very simple....this example assumes I am
sending the Server request to my system at home from my point system.

paw
Then, send the message. The server will execute the PAW.BAT file,
which will swap the names of Autoexec.bat and Autoexec.paw. Then, the
host system will reboot. When it comes back up, it will invoke PCANYWHERE
and will be ready to receive your incoming call. Do whatever it is you
need to do with PCAnyWhere, and when you are all through, run the PAW.BAT
file again. PAW will swap the names of the two AUTOEXEC.xxx files again,
the system will reboot, and come back up with FrontDoor running again...
everything should be back to normal.
Follow this procedure anytime you need to call into your system and
be able to get to DOS to do some work. I have found this to be a very
useful little setup!
If you have problems setting this up, please leave me a message in
the FDECHO. I will NOT be returning NetMail requests for Help.. sorry,
can't afford it!
