  9. Start version 1.0 or 1.1 of SPEAR.EXE with: "SPEAR debugmode".
  10.  
  11. You can activate "debug mode" at any time after you get to the first screen
  12. (facing the hanging vines) by pressing the "LEFT SHIFT+LEFT ALT+BACKSPACE"
  13. keys.  You will get a message telling you "Debugging keys are now available".
  14. The "TAB+letter" commands described in the following list are then available.

  16. DEBUG COMMANDS:

  18. TAB+B      Change Border Color (0-15)
  19. TAB+C      Display number of "statics", doors, and "actors" in the level
  20. TAB+E      Skip ahead 1 level
  21. TAB+F      Display current (X,Y) position in level
  22. TAB+G      Toggle GOD MODE ON/OFF (Invunerable & your eyes glow bright yellow)
  23. TAB+H      Reduce your Health by 16% (Not effective in GOD MODE)
  24. TAB+I      Give you FREE ITEMS (Adds Health, Ammo and Weapons).  Use this one
  25.            several times to get the Chain gun and max out Health and Ammo.
  26. TAB+M      Display Memory Usage
  27. TAB+N      Toggle "clipping" OFF/ON (Lets you walk through walls when OFF)
  28. TAB+P      PAUSE game (Press any key to resume game)
  29. TAB+Q      QUIT and immediately EXIT TO DOS
  30. TAB+S      Toggle SLOW MOTION mode ON/OFF (and "slow" is an understatement!)
  31. TAB+T      Display graphics and sound "modules" from the game in a pop-up
  32.            window (0-665).  Use the RIGHT/LEFT ARROW keys to move from one
  33.            module to the next (no wrap around from 665 to 0 or vice versa).
  34.            It's all mostly "blank" spots, but there are some interesting ones.
  35. TAB+V      Add extra VBLs (0-8); The only visible effect is a slight slowing
  36.            of the graphics updates as you move.  As far as I have been able to
  37.            determine, no one outside of Apogee seems to know what a "VBL" is.
  38. TAB+W      Teleport ("Warp") you to any level (1-21) instantaneously.
  39. TAB+X      Display says "EXTRA STUFF" but no one outside Apogee knows what.

  41. SKIP START: Start version 1.0 or 1.1 of SPEAR.EXE with: "SPEAR TEDLEVEL x";
  42.             where "x" is the level (1-21) that you wish to begin the game on.

  44. FAST START: Start version 1.0 or 1.1 of SPEAR.EXE with: "SPEAR NOWAIT";
  45.             This will by-pass the "PC-13" and Intro Graphics screens.

  47. PROTECTION: While there's an "unprotect" that has been put out for version 1.0
  48.             of Spear, you really do not need an unprotect for either version.
  49.             There is a "backdoor".  The programmers of SPEAR must have been
  50.             real fans of the movie "WAR GAMES".  When the game asks you for
  51.             some esoteric piece of trivia from the manual, simply enter the
  52.             word "JOSHUA" (regardless of the actual question) and you will see
  53.             "Greetings Professor Falken, would you like to play Spear of
  54.             Destiny?" (no response required) and you will be into the game.

  56. INSTALLING: The volume labels MUST be: "SPEAR 1", "SPEAR 2", "SPEAR 3"

  58. WINDOWS   : I run SPEAR from Windows 3.1 by using "COMMAND /C SPEAR.EXE"

  60. Okay, that's it!  Have fun and don't forget that SPEAR OF DESTINY is a
  61. commercial software product.  If you are using this cheat sheet, buy the game!
