UNDEAD12.DEH is a dehacked 1.3 patch file for registered DOOM.EXE ver. 1.2.
To install this patch, place it in the directory with DOOM.EXE and
type undeadin. To undo the installation, type undedout.
Kill enemies at your own risk, for the tormented souls of the ones
you have slain may come back to haunt you.
Don't leave Imp bodies lying around -- evil spirits will possess them, making
the once easily defeated monsters invulnerable to your most powerful attack!
It usually only takes about one minute for an evil spirit to locate a dead
imp's body and possess it, so it's almost imperative that imp's must be
destroyed completely, reduced to nothing more than blood and guts, preventing
evil spirits from taking their bodies. I advise using a rocket launcher,
berserk fists, or a BFG9000 against the imps. If you see an imp rise from
the dead before your very eyes, run from him because once an evil spirit has
possessed him, he is invincible.
Humans have something the other enemies don't -- a soul. Killing a sergeant
or trooper has serious consequences -- their ghosts will come back to haunt
you. Ghosts are able to walk through walls, float through the air, and
appear partially invisible to the world of the living. They're much tougher
to kill than their former human selves, especially since they're so light;
you can shoot one with a shotgun, and he'll fly back into the wall only to
re-emerge later when you least expect it. They're fast too -- probably
three times faster than they were as humans. And especially watch out for
trooper ghosts, as I'm told they have suicidal tendancies.
Here is the patch that brings the undead into your DOOM experience, so load
it and try it ... if you think you can handle it!
NOTES:
I only used this patch after I typed "iddqd", and I think it's much too
tough otherwise (at least in Ultra Violence). Reducing the Hit Points
or the speed for the ghosts (the Clip and Shotgun entries) might be a
good idea.
I had to do some shifting around to keep my regular shotguns and clips,
but still have ghosts, so you will probably have some ghosts running
around without having to kill anything (Dead Marines and Dead Lost
Souls will be ghosts now).
You can change the time it takes for the Imps to resurrect by changing
the duration for frame #27 (the beginning of the resurrection sequence).
I made the imp's resurrection sequence by having the shotgun skip over
some of its frames when firing and using the skipped entries to resurrect
the imp. The resurrection sequence begins and frame 27 and goes back to
frame 23 and contains the data for the imp's death, only in reverse order.
Frame 23 jumps back to the imp's first 'normal' frame and the imp is alive
again (but invincible). I really wanted an imp I could kill over and
over again :-(.
