  23. [ 2] - Obituary contains the following replacements for Doom II:

  25.  * 16 new levels & a bonus level.
  26.    Two special external Deathmatch-levels. (Section 3 for details)

  28.  * 3 new enemies:
  29.    + Harder Imp (shooting green fireballs, moves faster)
  30.    + Bazooka Man, a rocket-shooting guy - be careful, he's also
  31.      called 'Splashing Man'... :-)
  32.    + A very fast semi-invisible hightech guy. Be quick or be dead.

  34.  * a lot of new graphics; walls, floors, textures, sprites & weapons
  35.  
  36.  * 3 Demos - recorded with version 1.9 and in NORMAL Obituary.
  37.    If you play the demos with the special weapon patch, the players
  38.    are doing strange things...

  40.  * Optional a special weapon patch containing 4 changes:
  41.    + Kick (for punch)
  42.    + Double-Pistol (for Pistol, right - just like ROTT :-) )

  47. [ 3] - The Deathmatch-PWADs
  48.  
  49.  * Obituary contains two external Deathmatch-levels. They are called
  50.    OBDEATH1.WAD and OBDEATH2.WAD. They are designed for speed, there
  51.    are no monsters of course.
  52.  
  53.    To run a Obituary Deathmatch-level, don't install Obituary!
  54. -> Run them with a clean Doom II.
  55.  
  56.    They are containing ALL weapons. Look at this:
  57.  
  58.    Skill 1/2 to have: Pistol, Fist, Chainsaw
  59.    Skill   3 to have: Pistol, Fist, Chainsaw, Shotgun, Super Shotgun,
  60.                       Chaingun, Rocket Launcher
  61.    Skill 4/5 to have: Pistol, Fist, Chainsaw, Shotgun, Super Shotgun,
  62.                       Chaingun, Rocket Launcher, Plasma Rifle, BFG

  65. [ 4] - Installing Obituary
  66.  
  67.  * First of all, install a clean version of Doom II
  68.  * Copy ALL files in this package to your Doom II directory
  69.    You will need at least 6 MB free disk space to play Obituary!
  70.  * Start OBTIC.EXE to install and start Obituary
  71.  
  72.   OBITUARY IS NOT WORKING WITH DOOM - USE ONLY DOOM II
  73.  
  74.   Hit F1 or F2 to install  Obituary. Anytime your  are in this menu,
  75. you can  re-install Obituary. If you  want to check out the weapons,
  76. just  hit F2 - if you don't  like them, just  hit F1 to  install the
  77. normal add-on.
  78.   OBTIC.EXE will  change your  DOOM2.WAD and  DOOM2.EXE file.  Don't
  79. panic, you can uninstall everytime, restoring your original Doom II.
  80.  
  81.   If you want to play normal Doom II again - you have to uninstall
  82. Obituary first.
  83.  
  84. -> If the install process of OBTIC.EXE does NOT work, I included
  85. -> 3 batchfiles to install Obituary. They will pause after
  86. -> every job, if you have problems - let me know which job does
  87. -> not work! More about batchfiles at the end of the file.

  89. -> If you have a few Hell Knights in the first level -
  90. -> THE DEHACKED PATCHES DID NOT WORK.
  91. -> Try to install Obituary with the batchfiles!

  94. [ 5] - Running Obituary
  95.  
  96.   Before running Obituary, be sure to INSTALL it. See section 4.
  97.  
  98.   The OBTIC.EXE menu lets you start Obituary single player only. Just
  99. hit F5 to play.
  100.  
  101. ->   Btw: Don't use cheat-codes, this will decrease game-play and <-
  102. -> fun a lot. If you can't beat it - try a lower difficulty.      <-
  103. -> Otherwise - just TRY to cheat :-)                              <-
  104.  
  105.   To play Obituary with  modem or network, just  start OBTIC.EXE with
  106. the parameters  for the SERSETUP.EXE or IPXSETUP.EXE. OBTIC will pass
  107. all necessary parameters to these programs. Examples:
  108.  
  109. For a 3-player network game at ultra-violence:
  110.  
  111.   OBTIC -nodes 3 -skill 4
  112.  
  113. For a 2 player modem game at ultra-violence:
  114.  
  115.   OBTIC -com2 -skill 4 -answer
  116.  
  117.   (Note that OBTIC.EXE will automatically add the necessary PWADs)
  118.  
  119.   Of course you can call the SERSETUP or IPXSETUP direct (with a menu
  120. tool or  something like  that) - be sure  to have  Obituary installed
  121. (start OBTIC.EXE, install  it and exit) AND do  not forget to add two
  122. PWADs: OBTIC1.WAD and OBTIC2.WAD. DO NOT USE OBTIC3.WAD!

  125. [ 6] - Problems with Obituary
  126.  
  127.  (1) - OBTIC.EXE is hanging during Install.
  128.  
  129.        Try to press ENTER/RETURN and wait a few seconds. If this
  130.        is not running, try to install Obituary yourself.
  131.        (See batchfiles at the end of this file.)
  132.  
  133.  (3) - Doom II is not running. It hangs before/during the WAD-init.
  134.  
  135.        You forgot to uninstall Obituary. You tried to run Doom 2
  136.        with Obituary installed or with any other PWADs than
  137.        OBTIC1.WAD and OBTIC2.WAD.
  138.  
  139.  (4) - Doom II is not running. It hangs during the Doom refresh
  140.        daemon init.
  141.  
  142.        You forgot the PWADs. Add the files OBTIC1.WAD & OBTIC2.WAD
  143.        when starting Doom II. Don't use OBTIC3.WAD.
  144.  
  145.  (5) - Doom II is not running. It hangs at the Playloop init.
  146.  
  147.        This is a kind of special failure and we could not find
  148.        out why this happens. The only way to solve this, is to
  149.        uninstall Obituary and to check the files DOOM2.EXE and
  150.        DOOM2.WAD, they MUST be in exact original state.
  151.        If not, reinstall Doom 2.
  152.  
  153.        If this isn't working, use the Batchfiles to install
  154.        Obituary and e-mail me which jobs failed!

  156. --[ Batch files to install Obituary ]--------------------------------

  158.   You have full control of what will be changed. Press Return after
  159.   every job. E-mail me which jobs are not running!
  160.  
  161.   OBNORM.BAT   -> installs normal Obituary.
  162.  
  163.   OBWEAP.BAT   -> installs Obituary with the special weapon patch.
  164.  
  165.   OBUNINST.BAT -> uninstalls Obituary. Should work only if you
  166.                   have installed Obituary before.
