  1.                      Lapse August 1994 Information

  4. Another month has passed, and Lapse is chugging along at a respectable pace.
  5. As always, a few members have been gained and lost.  We were sorry to see
  6. Hellspawn and his expert ansi-drawing skills leave us; he is now a member of
  7. Tribe.  Good Luck, Hellspawn!
  8.  
  9. One of the members we acquired this month is T/┤E, and he'll be helping us out
  10. in the ansi department.  As you will notice, he is very productive, and has
  11. improved drastically just in the past month.  You should expect great things
  12. from him in the future.

  14. The viewer is faster and smoother than ever this month.  The Red Flame
  15. implemented hardware scrolling into it, and also added virus protection.
  16. As before, LapseView views ANSI in all screen modes up to 1024x768 with VESA,
  17. and also views AGSE, The Red Flame's own graphic standard.  AGSE emulates
  18. real graphics with binary codes, much like ANSI, providing for extremely fast,
  19. hi-resolution terminal emulation.  Unfortunately, our VGA department was weak
  20. this month, and you won't get to see much AGSE.  Look out for it in the
  21. future.

  23. Any way, there is some quality artwork in the pack from our artists, and
  24. Insanitor continues to pump out nice tunes in .S3M format.  Word has it that
  25. The Red Flame's next big addition to LapseView will be music-playing
  26. capabilities, but until then, I recommend PSI's Scream Tracker 3.01ß to
  27. listen to Insanitor's and Game's music.

  29. One thing that needs to be clarified: Lapse is NOT accepting any more sites
  30. inside the continental-USA.  Until further notice, we'll be sticking with
  31. the sites and HQ's we have now.  We ARE, however, looking for talented,
  32. productive artists and musicians, so feel free to apply via our application
  33. generator.

  35. Things to look for in the near future of Lapse: First, a literature
  36. department.  We will probably be releasing separate bi-monthly lit packs
  37. hopefully starting with September.  Also, we have considered creating a
  38. small group of coders who will be coding PPE's for PCBoard BBS Software.
  39. Expect the final word on that next month. Ansi's using ExtendedColor a.k.a
  40. iCEColor will most likely be in the next pack..

  49.   Well, as Delirium Tremens said.. we're sorry to see HellSpawn leave.. even
  50. for Tribe.. heh.. Anyway, we picked up T/┤E and DeathWish.. both very 
  51. talented artists.. this month Phaser-X actually did something.. heh.. two
  52. logo's is all.. but still..
  53.   Also, since I'm mostly in charge of sites.. I'd like to re-emphasize that
  54. we are *not* taking anymore sites in the Continental US.. Meaning, if you're
  55. not in another country.. or in Hawaii or Alaska.. don't fucking bother.. heh.
  56. Not to mention, we hardly have any couriers.. (one.. and that's all) so, most
  57. of the distribution will be done through internet.. which is ten thousands
  58. times more effective in my opinion.. =)
  59.   Anyway, it's just been another one of those hectic months.. I did weed out
  60. the site list to all of my ability.. if you were taken from the site list the
  61. reasons are either..
  62.   a) You're position/hq was not needed.. and only cluttered up the site lists
  63.   b) I have not heard from you for quite some time

  76.   Well, we continue to go at it.. This month, we've improved the viewer,
  77. or more precisely, The Red Flame has improved the viewer.. We have a lot of
  78. new ANSI's, and a few new tunes.. Unfortunatly, our VGA department was weak
  79. this month, but you've already heard all that.. <g>
  80.   Since I'm mainly involved with the music, I'll concentrate on that. 
  81. Insanitor takes the work prize this month.. He has been working his butt off
  82. composing, and is improving with every song. The Red Flame has shown us 
  83. that he's multi-talented with coming up with a great .s3m for the pack.
  84. DOOM.S3M... Check it out, it's really good. And I managed to scrounge up
  85. one .s3m... I was really rushed with work this month, so I was unable to
  86. do _too_ much... My .s3m is kind of a departure from the stuff I usually
  87. do. But anyways. I'd really like to thank DT, TRF and TK for keeping up 
  88. coordination effort with the pack. And Tae, for giving us a boost in the
  89. ANSI department.. As far as other groups go, and the only greet I make this
  90. month, is to Wapatti.. One of the coolest guys in the scene.. I hope you
  91. make Trip big. 
  92.   Anyways, I'm going to really try and get our music department
  93. the best in the scene.. (If it isn't already). Hopefully, sometime next 
  94. month, I'll be putting together a music disk. So look for it, under the 
  95. Lapse label. Until next month...
