  2. The following is the first issue of what WAS going to be an ongoing           
  3. comic book series.  I wrote it and was going to draw the first part           
  4. before we canned it.  Now I'm releasing it exclusively, unedited, to          
  5. the BBS public through FEAR.  I hope you like it, because it's just           
  6. the beginning of what you'll see with the two characters in the future.       
  7. I am, at this very moment, working on an animated demo of the first           
  8. character, American Bolt.  He's my baby, since I created him when I was       
  9. 6 years old, I've grown very attached to him and you will see the first       
  10. issue of HIS story in next months FEAR pack!  Thanks, and enjoy!

  24. UNREALITY (Un-ree-al-i-tee) (n.): All that defies                             
  25. reality.  A place in time that loops all that is imaginary                    
  26. with all that is real.

  32. Setting - A small, ratty pawn shop.  Guns are visible on                      
  33. walls, as this is by far their best source of business.

  35. Man: Can I help you with anything? (To Zack Bolten aka                        
  36. American Bolt)                                                                
  37. Zack: Nah, just looking.                                                      
  38. Man: Okay, cool.  Just give a holler if ya need anything.                     
  39. (the front door opens with a small <ding ding ding>) AHHH, M.                 
  40. r. Smithline!  It's good to see you again.

  42. Captions: The ignorantly noble people in this world have a                    
  43. popular misconception about criminals.  They think they're                    
  44. all stupid because they choose a life outside of legal                        
  45. restrictions and moral codes, nothing could be farther than                   
  46. the truth.

  50.                                                                               
  51. Captions (cont.): For those of us living in the real world,                   
  52. there are three kinds of criminals.  First you have the smart                 
  53. ones.  They never get their hands dirty.  Instead, they've                    
  54. got their underlings to pull the trigger.  Kind of like                       
  55. politicians and the police.  I was a smart criminal.  Next                    
  56. you have the dumb criminals.  Street punks, trigger men, and                  
  57. those types.  Targets more or less.  Then you've got this                     
  58. guy, the kind that doesn't want to be a criminal.                             
  59.                                                                               
  60. Man: Are you still interested in the gun?                                     
  61. Larry: Y-yes I still want it.                                                 
  62. Man: Ok, then ya need to fill this reciept out, sorta a                       
  63. disclaimer. And you'll be set.                                                
  64. Larry: Oh y-yeah, sure no problem.                                            
  65. Man: and would you like any extra ammunition for it?  Maybe a                 
  66. cleaning kit?  You know, these thing don't last long unless                   
  67. you keep them in good condition.                                              
  68. Larry: That's okay, i don't plan on having it for too long.                   
  69. Man: Oh, is it a gift?                                                        
  70. Larry: Of sorts, i-it's for my son.                                           
  71. Man: Well, yer gonna have to remind him to re-register it in                  
  72. his name.                                                                     
  73. (No response, just a shot of Larry's nervous, confused face.)

  78. Man: Ooookay, that comes out to... $293.76.  Cash or charge?                  
  79. Larry: (handing the man the money with nervous, shaking                       
  80. hands) Cash, keep the change.  (He grabs the bag and walks                    
  81. out of the store.)                                                            
  82. Man: Thank you very much sir!  So, anything interest you yet?                 
  83. Zack: Yes. (With a slight look of enthusiasm on his face, he                  
  84. walks out after Larry.  The man behind the counter shrugs                     
  85. confusingly.)                                                                 
  86. Caption:  Mr. Smithline here is sending out all the signs                     
  87. that somethings wrong.  Scared eyes, nervous stutter, and                     
  88. what kind of idiot would buy a gun from a public shop in THIS                 
  89. town?  Besides having to register it...only if...                             
  90. (Flashback type panels)                                                       
  91. Larry: ...I don't plan on having it too long.  ...Keep the                    
  92. change...                                                                     
  93. Captions: That confirms it.  This guys no Trump, who can                      
  94. afford to throw guns away and leave change behind.  He's                      
  95. going to kill himself.

  99.                                                                               
  100. (Zack follows Larry down the street, and hides around the                     
  101. corner of Larrys slightly below average looking apartment.                    
  102. Zack then reads the apartment directory after Larry goes                      
  103. inside and then walks away.)                                                  
  104.                                                                               
  105. Captions:  What I still don't understand about this guy is                    
  106. his little comment about the gun being for his son.  A murder                 
  107. suicide???  I don't see it in his eyes.  Fear and lonliness                   
  108. maybe, but not MURDER.  Junky apartment.  I check the                         
  109. directory to make sure he gave his true name to the clerk in                  
  110. the pawn shop.  Yup... Smithline, Larry.  Just eliminate the                  
  111. Garcias, Sanchezes, and Fenandezes and there he is.  Hmmm.                    
  112. Lives alone, wonder where his son is.  I'll be back later in                  
  113. something more comfortable.

  118. Captions: Later...                                                            
  119.                                                                               
  120. Narration: Hmmm, he's ready to tape something.  Remote                        
  121. control for the VCR is in his hand and he put a new, just                     
  122. unwrapped tape in earlier.  What's going on in your mind                      
  123. Larry.                                                                        
  124.                                                                               
  125. TV: ...and also in the news, planned for tommorow is the                      
  126. release of Bobby "Trigger Finger" Wilson, the Brooklyn youth                  
  127. convicted 10 years ago of murdering his classmate, Henry                      
  128. Smithline, in English class with a .44 magnum.  The crime was                 
  129. committed over an ensuing argument over a pencil.  Because                    
  130. of the vicousness of the crime, Wilson, who was only 15 at                    
  131. the time was tried and convicted as an adult.  Last month,                    
  132. the State denied a fair trial because of supposedly coerced                   
  133. testimony made by his other classmates.  Wilson is now 25                     
  134. years old. Next up on The 6 'o clock News....

  136. AB: My god, everything's clear now.

  139.                                                                               
  140. Guard: Here it is, yer final meal.  Fried chicken, mashed                     
  141. potaters, an' corn.  Eat up Wilson.  Too bad yer eating it as                 
  142. yer final meal in the joint instead o' it bein' the last meal                 
  143. o' yer life.                                                                  
  144.                                                                               
  145. Wilson: Why thank you Officer Carter, I'm pleased you find so                 
  146. much enjoyment in me eating.  I'm sure I'll be eating alot                    
  147. more though... with that whore you call a wife, while you sit                 
  148. here and watch chained men shower together.                                   
  149.                                                                               
  150. Gaurd: You bastard, I'm gonna rip yer freaking heart out!                     
  151. (officer sticks his arm in the cell to grab Wilson)                           
  152.                                                                               
  153. Wilson: Impossible, You can't touch me and you know it.  I                    
  154. have more protection than the gold at Fort Knox.  Tag, yer                    
  155. it! (Bites the officers finger off.)

  157. Guard: ARRRRRRGHHHH! MY finger, my finger! You Sonova...                      
  158. (he gets knocked out by AB)

  162. Wilson:  What the hell?  Who the hell are you?  Listen, If                    
  163. Heruva sent you, I don't need to broken out now... ya shoulda                 
  164. came about 9 years ago.  Just a few more hours and I'm legit!                 
  165.                                                                               
  166. AB: I'm not here to break you out.                                            
  167.                                                                               
  168. Wilson: Wha?                                                                  
  169.                                                                               
  170. AB: I'm just here to break you. (unsheathes sword)

  172. Wilson: Oh Jesus...

  174. AB: Wrong. He was taller, longer hair.

  178. (Splash page of AB swinging his sword with blood sliding off                  
  179. of it.  Reader is at a first person POV.  Wilsons POV.)

  183. Setting: Outside of the City Hall.                                            
  184.                                                                               
  185. Captions: The next day...                                                     
  186.                                                                               
  187. Various Reporters: And how was Wilson Killed?  Were there any                 
  188. suspects?  Is Officer Carter alright?                                         
  189.                                                                               
  190. Warden: Once again, Bobby Wilson committed suicide last night                 
  191. by throwing himself in to an air conditioning vent.  The                      
  192. blades tore him apart.                                                        
  193.                                                                               
  194. Reporter: Then how was Carter hurt?                                           
  195.                                                                               
  196. Warden: Carter, who is now doing fine, was transporting                       
  197. Wilson when he broke free and attacked him.                                   
  198.                                                                               
  199. Reporter: Why would a man with one day left to serve want to                  
  200. kill himself after years of fighting the system for his                       
  201. release?                                                                      
  202.                                                                               
  203. Warden: Well, as far as our psychologists can tell, Bobby                     
  204. Wilson developed a deep rooted, subconscience fear of the                     
  205. outside world during his stay with us.  He fought for years                   
  206. to free himself, but when the moment of truth arrived, he                     
  207. couldn't handle it and ended his own life.  Any more                          
  208. questions?                                                                    
  209.                                                                               
  210. Narration: He spouts off more lies than the devil himself.                    
  211. Not that I mind.  If they want to forget I was even there                     
  212. last night, fine.  Larry's been in the crowd the whole day.

  217. Narration:  That newspaper has too big of a gap inside of it,                 
  218. he's armed.  Come on guy, put it down. (slight pause as                       
  219. larry, standing near a garbage can looks at the rolled up                     
  220. newspaper and then tosses it in) Good job.  Yup, your boys'                   
  221. been avenged Larry, and you've been saved... Happy Fathers                    
  222. Day.

  230. Bayne: Barefoot Through The Fire - Prologue

  232. Splash (12):

  234. Setting: Detective stand around a shattered frame of a living                 
  235. room.  HUGE in design.  Clearly a multi-million dollar                        
  236. estate.  A few police are seen searching the room.  About 3.                  
  237.                                                                               
  238. Captions: (in letter form) To whomever may find this note...                  
  239.                                                                               
  240. Chief Sykes:  Ride this fucking room until you find something                 
  241. people!  'Cause none of us are leaving until we find SOME                     
  242. clue of where the hell Jake Hillmont is.                                      
  243.                                                                               
  244. ( We then swith to a weird panel of a shadowy figure of Bayne                 
  245. running through the yard of back of the mansion... TOWARDS                    
  246. the mansion.  Thi s should be treated as an inserted panel at                 
  247. the bottom right side of the page.)

  250. Page 13:                                                                      
  251.                                                                               
  252. Caption: (note) My world has crumbled.  I am but a pawn to                    
  253. all who know me.  The money, the capital... all worthless.                    
  254. Officer: Chief, I think I found something!  It's a note.                      
  255. (Hands it to Sykes).                                                          
  256. Sykes: (After looking at it).  Alright everyone... it looks                   
  257. like our job is done here.                                                    
  258. Det. Johansen: What's it say?                                                 
  259. Sykes: Looks like a suicide.  Ya know, I always thought of                    
  260. him as a strong person, but I knew, I just KNEW, Hillmont                     
  261. wouldn't be able to deal with this last episode.                              
  262. Det.: You mean the girl?                                                      
  263. Sykes: Yep. I mean... how would YOU feel if your fiancee                      
  264. threw herself out of a three story window.  Would make ya                     
  265. feel like the smallest piece of shit on earth... wouldn't it?                 
  266.                                                                               
  267. ( Bayne is now seen on the porch walking towards a guard                      
  268. posted outside.  He nears the guard and the guard says in a                   
  269. hushed voice...)                                                              
  270.                                                                               
  271. Guard: Christ on a crutch...                                                  
  272.                                                                               
  273. (A panel then follows with a CRUNCH! sound in it.. to be                      
  274. drawn by the letterer... it is a long and slender panel.)

  280. Captions: (note) I am sick of being used, lied to and                         
  281. decived.  Violence, death and anarchy just for the American                   
  282. Dollar... its all bullshit... and bullshit that I no longer                   
  283. want to have to deal with.                                                    
  284.                                                                               
  285. Setting: Guards walking down the small halllway towards the                   
  286. front door (... you know... the place where yer coat closet                   
  287. or whatever would be.)  We then will see four panels of the                   
  288. same size on the upper half of the page... a silouette will                   
  289. slowly get bigger and bigger (as if the figure was nearing                    
  290. the glass) and it will finally shatter through the door with                  
  291. great fury.  We then should swith to a back view of the                       
  292. figure jumping "into the page", NOT out towards the viewer                    
  293. towards the officers while they all draw guns.

  295. Officer 1: FUCK ME!!!

  297. Officer 2: What the hell is that?

  299. Officer 3: Jesus, jesus, jesus...

  304. Caption (note): I want nothing to do with the corruption,                     
  305. and it seems that the corruption is life.. so I want nothing                  
  306. to do with that either.  So tonight... I relieve myself from                  
  307. all of the pain, the hate, the corruption.                                    
  308. This is up to you... it will take place in the small hallway                  
  309. and is used to show the police officers getting mauled...                     
  310. don't overdue it.. but maybe leave some of it to the SLASH!                   
  311. WHACK! THHHHHHHIP! SFX and have an arm or two hurling through                 
  312. the air. :)  You can show full fgures and it would be nice to                 
  313. get a nice perspective view somewhere in here since there                     
  314. will be no words except for SFX and we need to rely TOTALLY                   
  315. on yer artwork.

  319. Setting: Poolside... outside of the house.  Sykes and                         
  320. Johansen are walking towards thier respective cars through                    
  321. the pool area and out a gate that leads to the driveway.                      
  322. They are totally unaware of what's going on in the house.                     
  323.                                                                               
  324. Johansen: So whos gonna write the report on this one?                         
  325.                                                                               
  326. Sykes: You owe me for last weeks drive-by...                                  
  327.                                                                               
  328. Johansen: (Searching his jacket pockets) Oh yeah... I guess                   
  329. I'll get it then.  Shit... I think I left my keys inside.                     
  330. Damn, guess I have to go back in.  Alright so i guess I'll                    
  331. see ya Wednesday.. right?                                                     
  332.                                                                               
  333. Sykes: Yep... six sharp.  Marcy hates waiting shes making her                 
  334. "World Famous" chicken and she gets awfully anal retentive                    
  335. when she does.                                                                
  336.                                                                               
  337. Johansen: (walking towards the house) Ok Ronny... see ya                      
  338. then. (waving as he's walking away... not turned around..                     
  339. still walking towards the house.. but just one of those...                    
  340. "later" waves where ya raise yer arm and kinda give the other                 
  341. person the back of yer hand.)

  346. Setting: In and outside of the house... This MAY be fairly                    
  347. hard to do.  If ya don't do it right, you may "paint yerself                  
  348. in a corner".  So be careful with the layouts.  Every other                   
  349. panel is Bayne, Johansen, Bayne, Johansen, ect...)                            
  350.                                                                               
  351. Caption (note):  I had a wife... it took her from me.  I had                  
  352. a business, it took it from me.  I will not let it take my                    
  353. life from me... I will do that part myself.                                   
  354. (Bayne staggers out of the small hallway to a mirror and                      
  355. picture filled hallway... he is seen staggering through the                   
  356. hall falling into the walls shattering the pictures and                       
  357. mirrors... this will be REAL nice if ya pull it off... good                   
  358. outlet to show LOTS of detail in the shattered pieces of                      
  359. glass and mirror.  This is all happening as Johansen is                       
  360. walking towards the house.  He is TOTALLY unaware that Bayne                  
  361. is in there... )

  366. Page 18:

  368. (Bayne makes it to the Living Room area that was being search                 
  369. at the beginning of the story.  he makes his way up the                       
  370. stairs pulling himself up...  Johansen makes his way to the                   
  371. shattered front door... Bayne enters the bathroom upstairs                    
  372. (this will be a view of him going into the bathroom with                      
  373. his back towards us.. like we are in the hallway.)...                         
  374. Johansen enters the small hallway with a horrid look on his                   
  375. face (obviously seeing the mutiliated officers...)... Bayne                   
  376. is then seen shadowed in the mirror... you can see his body..                 
  377. but his faceis heavily shadowed... THEN...                                    
  378.                                                                               
  379. Johansen: Oh no... no...  no...

  384. (This will then be a splash page of Baynes face as he's                       
  385. looking into the mirror...  he has a gunshot wound in the                     
  386. middle of his forehead and blood all over him... but NOT                      
  387. painted in it.)                                                               
  388. Caption (note):  I will take my life MYSELF, by my own                        
  389. motives, my own will, it will be no ones choice but MINE...                   
  390. Bayne: Oh no... no... no...

  394. (you will show on this page, one panel in the upper left hand                 
  395. corner of the page, split, of Johansen and Bayne spewing...                   
  396. ya donthave to be graphic... they can even have thier backs                   
  397. towards us and the sound BLLLLLLLLLAAAAAARGGGGGH!!! coming                    
  398. out from the front of them.. no prob.  Ya MAY want to have                    
  399. Some spew dripping off of hands or whatever... :)  Who the                    
  400. fuck cares... laugh.  Bayne is then seen looking up with                      
  401. pain, horror, frustration and sadness in his face (have fun                   
  402. :) ) and then the next panel he is screaming at the top of                    
  403. his lungs...)

  405. Caption (note): This is ONE thing that I am refusing the                      
  406. corruption and greed...                                                       
  407.                                                                               
  408. Bayne: No... no... no...

  410. Bayne: Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  412. (this last panel, Johansen is seen looking up in surprise...)

  418. Caption (note): .. the one thing I know it wants... but NO..                  
  419. i'm not giving in to it... not this time...                                   
  420. (Johansen runs through the house (pick a few of the rooms                     
  421. that Bayne went through.. be careful.. make sure if a mirror                  
  422. was shattered... that it's still there... and shattered.) and                 
  423. up the stairs...)  The NOOOOOO! is echoed through this whole                  
  424. page as Johansen is running through the house to the upstairs                 
  425. bathroom where Bayne is...)

  429. (Johansen then makes it to the bathroom door and sees Bayne                   
  430. standing on the ledge of the balcony outside of the bathroom                  
  431. (there should be a big window there in the scene where he                     
  432. runs in.. we WOULD see it since we are looking INTO the room                  
  433. when he runs in.  He now obviously opened it and stepped                      
  434. outside onto the balcony.. duh! :) )

  436. Johansen: JAKE!?!?!                                                           
  437.                                                                               
  438. (Bayne turns around and Johansen gets a good look at his full                 
  439. body and face... so does the reader... he looks like shit.                    
  440. He is wearing a torn and tattered white suit with blood all                   
  441. over it... his hands are claws.. he's in his full vampire                     
  442. form... long ears.. the works.  He has a dead rose pinned on                  
  443. his pocket too...)                                                            
  444.                                                                               
  445. Johansen: Jesus Christ!  Is that you Hillmont?  What the hell                 
  446. are you?

  448. Bayne: Doomed...

  450. Page 23:

  452. Caption (note):  I have taken away its prize... its                           
  453. treasure... good... fuck it.                                                  
  454. (Bayne is then seen throwing himself out the window and                       
  455. getting impaled on that gate that we saw earlier...                           
  456. remember???  The one at poolside?  It should have that                        
  457. antique looking pointy tops to each bar... thats what he gets                 
  458. impaled on.  He then falls off of the gate (like he hit.. got                 
  459. impaled but because they are small spikes he "bounced off"                    
  460. and lands in the pool.)                                                       
  461.                                                                               
  462. Johansen: Stop!

  464. (Bayne jumps... as described above)                                           
  465.                                                                               
  466. SFX: THUNK!                                                                   
  467.                                                                               
  468. Bayne: AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

  470. SFX: RiiiiiiiiiPPPPP! (his clothing ripping as he's falling                   
  471. off of the fence...)  SPLASH!!!!

  473. Page 24: (Last page)                                                          
  474.                                                                               
  475. Caption (note... as he's floating downward)  I've beaten                      
  476. it,  I win.  And knowing that, it can go to hell... and I can                 
  477. finally rest... (as he opens his eyes) ... in peace.                          
  478. (Bayne is then seen falling into the murky water of the pool                  
  479. making a cloud of trailing blood follow him down... his eyes                  
  480. are closed, he hits the bottom.  We then switch to a facial                   
  481. shot... this should be a series of 5 panels... side to side                   
  482. on the bottom of the page showing him laying on his cheek                     
  483. facing the reader as blood slowing makes it way out of his                    
  484. nose.  On the last panel he should all of a sudden BOOM! OPEN                 
  485. HIS EYES!  Give him one of those GASP!!!!! effects in his                     
  486. face... )
