The following is the first issue of what WAS going to be an ongoing
comic book series. I wrote it and was going to draw the first part
before we canned it. Now I'm releasing it exclusively, unedited, to
the BBS public through FEAR. I hope you like it, because it's just
the beginning of what you'll see with the two characters in the future.
I am, at this very moment, working on an animated demo of the first
character, American Bolt. He's my baby, since I created him when I was
6 years old, I've grown very attached to him and you will see the first
issue of HIS story in next months FEAR pack! Thanks, and enjoy!
Lates,
░▒▓CÄRDïÑÄ£▓▒░
And now, Split Realities...
Page 1 (Splash):
Caption: Reality (Ree-al-i-tee) (n.): 1.The state or fact of
being real. 2- Having actual existence, or having actually
occured. 3- A real thing or fact. 4- That which is real as
opposed to that which is imagined or merely apparent.
UNREALITY (Un-ree-al-i-tee) (n.): All that defies
reality. A place in time that loops all that is imaginary
with all that is real.
Splash Page (2):
Caption: American Bolt in - "Fathers Day".
Setting - A small, ratty pawn shop. Guns are visible on
walls, as this is by far their best source of business.
Man: Can I help you with anything? (To Zack Bolten aka
American Bolt)
Zack: Nah, just looking.
Man: Okay, cool. Just give a holler if ya need anything.
(the front door opens with a small <ding ding ding>) AHHH, M.
r. Smithline! It's good to see you again.
Captions: The ignorantly noble people in this world have a
popular misconception about criminals. They think they're
all stupid because they choose a life outside of legal
restrictions and moral codes, nothing could be farther than
the truth.
Page 3:
Captions (cont.): For those of us living in the real world,
there are three kinds of criminals. First you have the smart
ones. They never get their hands dirty. Instead, they've
got their underlings to pull the trigger. Kind of like
politicians and the police. I was a smart criminal. Next
you have the dumb criminals. Street punks, trigger men, and
those types. Targets more or less. Then you've got this
guy, the kind that doesn't want to be a criminal.
Man: Are you still interested in the gun?
Larry: Y-yes I still want it.
Man: Ok, then ya need to fill this reciept out, sorta a
disclaimer. And you'll be set.
Larry: Oh y-yeah, sure no problem.
Man: and would you like any extra ammunition for it? Maybe a
cleaning kit? You know, these thing don't last long unless
you keep them in good condition.
Larry: That's okay, i don't plan on having it for too long.
Man: Oh, is it a gift?
Larry: Of sorts, i-it's for my son.
Man: Well, yer gonna have to remind him to re-register it in
his name.
(No response, just a shot of Larry's nervous, confused face.)
Page 4:
Man: Ooookay, that comes out to... $293.76. Cash or charge?
Larry: (handing the man the money with nervous, shaking
hands) Cash, keep the change. (He grabs the bag and walks
out of the store.)
Man: Thank you very much sir! So, anything interest you yet?
Zack: Yes. (With a slight look of enthusiasm on his face, he
walks out after Larry. The man behind the counter shrugs
confusingly.)
Caption: Mr. Smithline here is sending out all the signs
that somethings wrong. Scared eyes, nervous stutter, and
what kind of idiot would buy a gun from a public shop in THIS
town? Besides having to register it...only if...
(Flashback type panels)
Larry: ...I don't plan on having it too long. ...Keep the
change...
Captions: That confirms it. This guys no Trump, who can
afford to throw guns away and leave change behind. He's
going to kill himself.
Page 5:
(Zack follows Larry down the street, and hides around the
corner of Larrys slightly below average looking apartment.
Zack then reads the apartment directory after Larry goes
inside and then walks away.)
Captions: What I still don't understand about this guy is
his little comment about the gun being for his son. A murder
suicide??? I don't see it in his eyes. Fear and lonliness
maybe, but not MURDER. Junky apartment. I check the
directory to make sure he gave his true name to the clerk in
the pawn shop. Yup... Smithline, Larry. Just eliminate the
Garcias, Sanchezes, and Fenandezes and there he is. Hmmm.
Lives alone, wonder where his son is. I'll be back later in
something more comfortable.
Page 6:
Captions: Later...
Narration: Hmmm, he's ready to tape something. Remote
control for the VCR is in his hand and he put a new, just
unwrapped tape in earlier. What's going on in your mind
Larry.
TV: ...and also in the news, planned for tommorow is the
release of Bobby "Trigger Finger" Wilson, the Brooklyn youth
convicted 10 years ago of murdering his classmate, Henry
Smithline, in English class with a .44 magnum. The crime was
committed over an ensuing argument over a pencil. Because
of the vicousness of the crime, Wilson, who was only 15 at
the time was tried and convicted as an adult. Last month,
the State denied a fair trial because of supposedly coerced
testimony made by his other classmates. Wilson is now 25
years old. Next up on The 6 'o clock News....
AB: My god, everything's clear now.
Page 7:
Guard: Here it is, yer final meal. Fried chicken, mashed
potaters, an' corn. Eat up Wilson. Too bad yer eating it as
yer final meal in the joint instead o' it bein' the last meal
o' yer life.
Wilson: Why thank you Officer Carter, I'm pleased you find so
much enjoyment in me eating. I'm sure I'll be eating alot
more though... with that whore you call a wife, while you sit
here and watch chained men shower together.
Gaurd: You bastard, I'm gonna rip yer freaking heart out!
(officer sticks his arm in the cell to grab Wilson)
Wilson: Impossible, You can't touch me and you know it. I
have more protection than the gold at Fort Knox. Tag, yer
it! (Bites the officers finger off.)
Guard: ARRRRRRGHHHH! MY finger, my finger! You Sonova...
(he gets knocked out by AB)
Page 8:
Wilson: What the hell? Who the hell are you? Listen, If
Heruva sent you, I don't need to broken out now... ya shoulda
came about 9 years ago. Just a few more hours and I'm legit!
AB: I'm not here to break you out.
Wilson: Wha?
AB: I'm just here to break you. (unsheathes sword)
Wilson: Oh Jesus...
AB: Wrong. He was taller, longer hair.
Page 9:
(Splash page of AB swinging his sword with blood sliding off
of it. Reader is at a first person POV. Wilsons POV.)
Page 10:
Setting: Outside of the City Hall.
Captions: The next day...
Various Reporters: And how was Wilson Killed? Were there any
suspects? Is Officer Carter alright?
Warden: Once again, Bobby Wilson committed suicide last night
by throwing himself in to an air conditioning vent. The
blades tore him apart.
Reporter: Then how was Carter hurt?
Warden: Carter, who is now doing fine, was transporting
Wilson when he broke free and attacked him.
Reporter: Why would a man with one day left to serve want to
kill himself after years of fighting the system for his
release?
Warden: Well, as far as our psychologists can tell, Bobby
Wilson developed a deep rooted, subconscience fear of the
outside world during his stay with us. He fought for years
to free himself, but when the moment of truth arrived, he
couldn't handle it and ended his own life. Any more
questions?
Narration: He spouts off more lies than the devil himself.
Not that I mind. If they want to forget I was even there
last night, fine. Larry's been in the crowd the whole day.
Page 11:
Narration: That newspaper has too big of a gap inside of it,
he's armed. Come on guy, put it down. (slight pause as
larry, standing near a garbage can looks at the rolled up
newspaper and then tosses it in) Good job. Yup, your boys'
been avenged Larry, and you've been saved... Happy Fathers
Day.
Caption: The End.

Bayne: Barefoot Through The Fire - Prologue
Splash (12):
Setting: Detective stand around a shattered frame of a living
room. HUGE in design. Clearly a multi-million dollar
estate. A few police are seen searching the room. About 3.
Captions: (in letter form) To whomever may find this note...
Chief Sykes: Ride this fucking room until you find something
people! 'Cause none of us are leaving until we find SOME
clue of where the hell Jake Hillmont is.
( We then swith to a weird panel of a shadowy figure of Bayne
running through the yard of back of the mansion... TOWARDS
the mansion. Thi s should be treated as an inserted panel at
the bottom right side of the page.)
Page 13:
Caption: (note) My world has crumbled. I am but a pawn to
all who know me. The money, the capital... all worthless.
Officer: Chief, I think I found something! It's a note.
(Hands it to Sykes).
Sykes: (After looking at it). Alright everyone... it looks
like our job is done here.
Det. Johansen: What's it say?
Sykes: Looks like a suicide. Ya know, I always thought of
him as a strong person, but I knew, I just KNEW, Hillmont
wouldn't be able to deal with this last episode.
Det.: You mean the girl?
Sykes: Yep. I mean... how would YOU feel if your fiancee
threw herself out of a three story window. Would make ya
feel like the smallest piece of shit on earth... wouldn't it?
( Bayne is now seen on the porch walking towards a guard
posted outside. He nears the guard and the guard says in a
hushed voice...)
Guard: Christ on a crutch...
(A panel then follows with a CRUNCH! sound in it.. to be
drawn by the letterer... it is a long and slender panel.)
(NOTE: We have not seen Baynes face yet.)
Page 14:
Captions: (note) I am sick of being used, lied to and
decived. Violence, death and anarchy just for the American
Dollar... its all bullshit... and bullshit that I no longer
want to have to deal with.
Setting: Guards walking down the small halllway towards the
front door (... you know... the place where yer coat closet
or whatever would be.) We then will see four panels of the
same size on the upper half of the page... a silouette will
slowly get bigger and bigger (as if the figure was nearing
the glass) and it will finally shatter through the door with
great fury. We then should swith to a back view of the
figure jumping "into the page", NOT out towards the viewer
towards the officers while they all draw guns.
Officer 1: FUCK ME!!!
Officer 2: What the hell is that?
Officer 3: Jesus, jesus, jesus...
Page 15:
Caption (note): I want nothing to do with the corruption,
and it seems that the corruption is life.. so I want nothing
to do with that either. So tonight... I relieve myself from
all of the pain, the hate, the corruption.
This is up to you... it will take place in the small hallway
and is used to show the police officers getting mauled...
don't overdue it.. but maybe leave some of it to the SLASH!
WHACK! THHHHHHHIP! SFX and have an arm or two hurling through
the air. :) You can show full fgures and it would be nice to
get a nice perspective view somewhere in here since there
will be no words except for SFX and we need to rely TOTALLY
on yer artwork.
Page 16:
Setting: Poolside... outside of the house. Sykes and
Johansen are walking towards thier respective cars through
the pool area and out a gate that leads to the driveway.
They are totally unaware of what's going on in the house.
Johansen: So whos gonna write the report on this one?
Sykes: You owe me for last weeks drive-by...
Johansen: (Searching his jacket pockets) Oh yeah... I guess
I'll get it then. Shit... I think I left my keys inside.
Damn, guess I have to go back in. Alright so i guess I'll
see ya Wednesday.. right?
Sykes: Yep... six sharp. Marcy hates waiting shes making her
"World Famous" chicken and she gets awfully anal retentive
when she does.
Johansen: (walking towards the house) Ok Ronny... see ya
then. (waving as he's walking away... not turned around..
still walking towards the house.. but just one of those...
"later" waves where ya raise yer arm and kinda give the other
person the back of yer hand.)
Page 17:
Setting: In and outside of the house... This MAY be fairly
hard to do. If ya don't do it right, you may "paint yerself
in a corner". So be careful with the layouts. Every other
panel is Bayne, Johansen, Bayne, Johansen, ect...)
Caption (note): I had a wife... it took her from me. I had
a business, it took it from me. I will not let it take my
life from me... I will do that part myself.
(Bayne staggers out of the small hallway to a mirror and
picture filled hallway... he is seen staggering through the
hall falling into the walls shattering the pictures and
mirrors... this will be REAL nice if ya pull it off... good
outlet to show LOTS of detail in the shattered pieces of
glass and mirror. This is all happening as Johansen is
walking towards the house. He is TOTALLY unaware that Bayne
is in there... )
More silence.
Page 18:
(Bayne makes it to the Living Room area that was being search
at the beginning of the story. he makes his way up the
stairs pulling himself up... Johansen makes his way to the
shattered front door... Bayne enters the bathroom upstairs
(this will be a view of him going into the bathroom with
his back towards us.. like we are in the hallway.)...
Johansen enters the small hallway with a horrid look on his
face (obviously seeing the mutiliated officers...)... Bayne
is then seen shadowed in the mirror... you can see his body..
but his faceis heavily shadowed... THEN...
Johansen: Oh no... no... no...
Page 19:
(This will then be a splash page of Baynes face as he's
looking into the mirror... he has a gunshot wound in the
middle of his forehead and blood all over him... but NOT
painted in it.)
Caption (note): I will take my life MYSELF, by my own
motives, my own will, it will be no ones choice but MINE...
Bayne: Oh no... no... no...
Page 20:
(you will show on this page, one panel in the upper left hand
corner of the page, split, of Johansen and Bayne spewing...
ya donthave to be graphic... they can even have thier backs
towards us and the sound BLLLLLLLLLAAAAAARGGGGGH!!! coming
out from the front of them.. no prob. Ya MAY want to have
Some spew dripping off of hands or whatever... :) Who the
fuck cares... laugh. Bayne is then seen looking up with
pain, horror, frustration and sadness in his face (have fun
:) ) and then the next panel he is screaming at the top of
his lungs...)
Caption (note): This is ONE thing that I am refusing the
corruption and greed...
Bayne: No... no... no...
Bayne: Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
(this last panel, Johansen is seen looking up in surprise...)
Joahnsen: Wuh?
Page 21:
Caption (note): .. the one thing I know it wants... but NO..
i'm not giving in to it... not this time...
(Johansen runs through the house (pick a few of the rooms
that Bayne went through.. be careful.. make sure if a mirror
was shattered... that it's still there... and shattered.) and
up the stairs...) The NOOOOOO! is echoed through this whole
page as Johansen is running through the house to the upstairs
bathroom where Bayne is...)
Page 22:
(Johansen then makes it to the bathroom door and sees Bayne
standing on the ledge of the balcony outside of the bathroom
(there should be a big window there in the scene where he
runs in.. we WOULD see it since we are looking INTO the room
when he runs in. He now obviously opened it and stepped
outside onto the balcony.. duh! :) )
Johansen: JAKE!?!?!
(Bayne turns around and Johansen gets a good look at his full
body and face... so does the reader... he looks like shit.
He is wearing a torn and tattered white suit with blood all
over it... his hands are claws.. he's in his full vampire
form... long ears.. the works. He has a dead rose pinned on
his pocket too...)
Johansen: Jesus Christ! Is that you Hillmont? What the hell
are you?
Bayne: Doomed...
Page 23:
Caption (note): I have taken away its prize... its
treasure... good... fuck it.
(Bayne is then seen throwing himself out the window and
getting impaled on that gate that we saw earlier...
remember??? The one at poolside? It should have that
antique looking pointy tops to each bar... thats what he gets
impaled on. He then falls off of the gate (like he hit.. got
impaled but because they are small spikes he "bounced off"
and lands in the pool.)
Johansen: Stop!
(Bayne jumps... as described above)
SFX: THUNK!
Bayne: AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
SFX: RiiiiiiiiiPPPPP! (his clothing ripping as he's falling
off of the fence...) SPLASH!!!!
Page 24: (Last page)
Caption (note... as he's floating downward) I've beaten
it, I win. And knowing that, it can go to hell... and I can
finally rest... (as he opens his eyes) ... in peace.
(Bayne is then seen falling into the murky water of the pool
making a cloud of trailing blood follow him down... his eyes
are closed, he hits the bottom. We then switch to a facial
shot... this should be a series of 5 panels... side to side
on the bottom of the page showing him laying on his cheek
facing the reader as blood slowing makes it way out of his
nose. On the last panel he should all of a sudden BOOM! OPEN
HIS EYES! Give him one of those GASP!!!!! effects in his
face... )
