  1. Welcome to STUDS!

  3. Thank you for purchasing this CD. I sincerely hope you get many hours 
  4. of enjoyment out of this product. We have put many hours of testing 
  5. into this CD to make it as user friendly as possible. 
  6.  
  7. The CD is set up to run on both MAC, DOS, and Windows platforms. Therefore 
  8. some of the files contained on this CD will not run on both platforms 
  9. For people using Windows all you need to do is run the setup program, 
  10. This will place all the necessary files on your hard drive. Windows 
  11. has a bad habit of resizing image files depending on what your monitor 
  12. resolution is. The only way around this is to run programs in DOS full 
  13. screen sessions. So the program is actually a DOS app running in a full 
  14. screen session. Another drawback of Windows programs is that they tend 
  15. to write information in your Windows INI files this program does not alter 
  16. any of your INI files in any way other than to put in the program group.

  18. The problem mentioned below will apply to people running this program out 
  19. of Windows because it is a DOS application it will need this driver in 
  20. your configuration files.

  22. One problem we have encountered is with Vesa cards. These cards
  23. come with a driver that needs to be installed in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. If
  24. you run SOCD and all you see is the menu bar at the bottom of the screen
  25. then you will need to install your VESA driver. Every card uses a
  26. different driver so you will need to refer to your video cards manual for
  27. installation instructions.

  29. There are TIF, BMP and GIF files on the CD. The TIF files are 24
  30. bit images that can be imported to any popular graphics program. All other
  31. files are in 8 bit format. Feel free to use the BMP files as Windows
  32. backgrounds or screen  savers. The PIC files on this disk are formatted for
  33. Macintosh computers and can not be read by IBM compatibles.

  37. Late in the development of this CD the Owner of these images
  38. decided to grant permission for BBS use. All printed matter was already
  39. complete so it was not possible to put this on the cover. Time was an
  40. issue so there is no FILES.BBS, however if you wish to place this disc and
  41. its images on a BBS then this DOS.TXT file is all the permission you
  42. need.
