FRACTIONAL T1
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Fractional T1 is a dedicated digital private line that is packaged in two,
four, or six DSO increments. FT1 fills the gap between 56 Kbps DDS/ADN and
1.544 Mbps DS1 service which enables GTE to provide end users with lower-cost
local access to the fractional services of Interexchange Carriers (IXCs).
A key feature of FT1 service is contiguous routing. That is, the service
bundles DSO channels together within the same circuit, end to end. This
eliminates the timing problems that can arise with noncontiguous routing.
It also assures the proper operation of customer-and carrier-provided
equipment.
FT1 is connected at the customer's premises to a standard FT1 or DS1 CSU/DSU.
GTE offers customers General DataComm, Inc. and ADC/Kentrox products for
these connections. Customers with requirements for services that require
less than DS1 capacity are ideal candidates for FT1 service.
APPLICATIONS:
- LAN-to-LAN interconnection.
- Host-to-Host communications.
- Videoconferencing.
- Imaging communications (e.g., CAD/CAM, X-ray, etc.).
- Integrated multimedia services.
- Private network extension.
- Aggregation of conventional, lower speed circuits.
- Efficient customer connections to DS-1 backbones.
- Any application that needs more bandwidth than 56 Kbps Digital Data
Service, but less than the 1.544 Mbps of T1.
- FT1 is offered on a month-to-month basis or with an Optional Payment
Plan (OPP) of one, three or five years.
- FT1 is an excellent service for those applications requiring
intermediate bandwidth rather than full DS-1 capacity.
- GTE offers FT1 as an affordable, efficient, high-speed communications
solution for organizations and applications that do not require full T1
capacity (1.544 Mbps).
