  8. ;        (it's a TIC processor).  Black Flag is neat because it can track
  9. ;        files as they go through the network.  In the next release, Black
  10. ;        Flag will have an Areafix and support the new fidonet Distributed
  11. ;        File Request System

  13. ;    o   In addittion, we should have all files on all boards in DNA be
  14. ;        requestable through the front-end mailer, perhaps only to sites
  15. ;        in the Nodelist or passworded systems.

  17. ;    o   If requests are only allowed from secure systems, then most likely
  18. ;        it would only be possible to FREQ from one's direct uplinks and
  19. ;        down-links - which would not be very wonderful.

  22. ;        requests, eliminating the above annoyance.

  24. ;    o   Routed file requests would probably magnify the phone bills of

  32. ;    o   If all systems had CyberFile running, DNA (the HDN) would become
  33. ;        the largest, most powerful hack-phreak-technical information seek
  34. ;        facility available.

  36. ;    o   Echo tags should meet 8 character limit due to limitation
  37. ;        in some old TIC processors.  However, echo tags longer than eight
  38. ;        characters are much nicer - if we agree only to use newer TIC 
  39. ;        processors, then we can have long echo tags.

  41. ;    o   Black Flag version 1.60 (with the 1.50 documentation) may be freqed
  42. ;        from me as BLACK160.ZIP.  CyberFile may be freqed as CYBERFILE,
  43. ;        CYBRFILE, or CF051.ZIP.  The current version is 0.51 with 0.52 due
  44. ;        out very soon.  I'm sure I could provide DNA members with registered
  45. ;        copies. (:  To try out CyberFile, call up the Digital Forest and
  46. ;        hit /C from the File Menu.  For those of you that are as yet
  47. ;        uninitiated, CyberFile allows sysops to put files on cd-roms,
  48. ;        tapes, other BBS's, etc, up on the BBS.  Really nice interface.

  51. ;    o   Since DNA is relatively small and its particapants are open minded,
  52. ;        DNA would provide an excellent test-bed for alternate network
  53. ;        systems and topologies. It would be interesting to implement the
  54. ;        proposed fidonet nameserver proposal and other new things.  In such
  55. ;        a system, Digital Decay becomes digital_decay.dna.org instead of
  56. ;        66:714/0. It's neat.

  58. ;    o   Proposed File Echo Tags
  59. ;         - remember, you can group these areas into single directories on
  60. ;         your bbs.  For example, you could tell your TIC processor to put
  61. ;        all HDN-DNA and HDN-ILL files into the same directory.  For this
  62. ;        reason, I am making the areas very specific.  You can group the
  63. ;        files automatically into less-specific areas when they get to your
  64. ;        board, but the opposite cannot be done without human evaluation.
  65. ;        Personally, I just have all my inbound TICs directed into my
  66. ;        UPLOADs directory. [with Black Flag, I just add this to my config:
  67. ;        AREA * F:\DLOADS\UPLOADS and all files get sent to uploads. (:
