SATANIC BUNCO SHEET
═════════ ■ ═══════
The Following Guidelines, Written By Anton LaVey, Are Included
In Each New C.O.S. Membership Package. As The Interest In
Satanism Continues To Rise So Does The Opportunity For Those Less
Than Ethical Induviduals To Relieve The Uninformed Of Their Cash.
Read On, and Consider Yourself Informed.
1) When someone claims to have revelations directly from
Satan, he's playing and age-old Christian game to bilk you out of
your money. You cannot blend mysticism and rationality, no
matter how a group may dance around it. Mysticism is defined as a
touch from "God" or "Satan," by whatever name you may call him.
By definition, it suspends and automatically negates logic. It's
exactly the kind of blind belief one is supposed to have in the
transformation of the bread and wine of the Catholic Mass into
the literal body and blood of Christ. That's the step that true
Satanists can't take, one of blind faith, abandoning all
rationality with mystery, magic, ritual, and ceremonies--these
are completely different things from the "mystical experience."
But, as explained in The Satanic Bible, it is a highly consicious
act and the seperation of the two elements are deliberate and
clear. You suspend your rational mind when you walk into the
ritual chamber, you don't abandon it completely! By using all
the most effective, evocative techniques at your disposal, by
concentrating your entire being to reach your goal, you may very
well contact something beyond yourself, But this comes form
personal experience, not "faith" or "belief," and you don't try
to sell this experience to anyone else. Even Christian mystics
cautioned against expecting others to believe you'd talked to
God.
2) Look out for jargon and secrets that only the "initiated"
can be privy to. As you are processed through the strictly
enforced degree system, you'll discover there are no real
secrets, just more gobbledygook.
3) Most pseudo-Satanic groups are short-lived, running out
of either money, enthusisasm, or both before too long. An easier
game usually comes along and they're off and running in a new
direction.
4) Be aware of the approach of "You probably aren't smart
enough to join us. The only way you could prove you're not is by
joining." From the first material you get, you feel you have to
prove and defend yourself. Don't be fooled by big words and
fancy typing. True Satanism builds the ego, it doesn't tear it
down.
5) How do they deal with Anton LaVey and The Church Of
Satan? Sometimes you have to read between the lines in their
literature. Many current groups play the Christian game of
handing out laurels with one hand while stabbing their
progenitors in the back with the other.
Do the rest of their ideas seem aligned with Satanism?
Do you get the feeling they're more 'Occultnik, Wiccan, or even
Christian? Do they want to be good, "ethical" Satanists? There
are those who are aligned with Satanism But who don't even
mention it in thier introductory literature. They don't balk
from the label when they're asked directly. The key usually is
that pseudo-Satanists want, at all costs, to wear a "Good Guy
Badge." Real Satanists don't need to. We admit to being Evil, to
being opposed to the blindness and hypocracy inherent in
Christianity.
6) Beware of cults offering sex orgies and drugs, or
killing animals in the name of Satan. As you well know, these
are not part of Satanic practices. The leaders want to take
advantage of you, and know less about Satanism than you do. Use
common sense. Suspect groups started by someone much older than
yourself: ask yourself what their motives seem to be. Don't get
involved with anyone you don't know well, as a friend, first.
7) Some other groups to be wary of: A) Feminist,
Wiccan-oriented, conciousness-raising groups who practice more
male-bashing than magic, B) New Age groups draped in Satanic
trappings. C) Jargon-laden Christians masqurading as Satanists,
D) Pen-Pal or lonely hearts social groups masquerading as
elitists performing powerful Satanic Rituals. All of the above
are subject to bitch-fights, petty jelousies, and rivalries. Many
make their membership lists and "advanced initiatory material"
availiable for the asking and encourage group activities of any
sort. They are safe havens for small-minded people trying to
play head games, preferring the protection of groups rather than
really working to apply what Anton LaVey wrote.
