Anne Landers has been quoted as saying
Trouble is the common denominator, it is
the Equalizer.
what's that supposed to mean?
Well lets break it up into two separate
parts and examine.
Is trouble the common denominator?
Sure it is!
Every one has trouble in some shape or form
It could be financial,legal,physical.
And let's leave it at that!
But is trouble the equalizer?
I don't think so!
What may be trouble for you,
May be no trouble for you!
And visa-versa!
In fact I can think of a number of ways
this holds true.
For instance, the difference between RICH
and POOR!
One guys rich, and ones poor.
Do you think that a traffic ticket, is any
financial hardship for the rich guy!
No, he's dropped more money for lunch!
But, for the poor guy, it may be the
difference between paying rent or not!
Or if you consider location!
Trouble is a lot easier to find in WATTS
than BEVERLY HILLS!
While the guy in WATTS is dodging bullets.
The guy in beverly hills is dodging taxes.
sure both are trouble.
but one is life and death!
And the other isn't of choice.
But I think the most dramatic example is
when a person get's sick!
Imagine two people that need heart
transplants.
One has the best insurance that money can
buy.
The other has no insurance, because he has
no money to buy!
The one with insurance may live!
The one that doesn't, probably will die!
In all cases, same trouble different
results!
Is that equal?
Hell NO!
In fact a person could arguably say that,
Trouble is the great inequalizer!
If Ann Landers was just trying to say that
every one has problems.
and in that in that we are all equal in
that.
She should of just said that!
Because, Trouble may be the common
denominator!
But it certainly isn't the equalizer!
