  14.        improved on marginal computer systems.
  15.  
  16.     3. Default exhaust valve size for aluminum and steel racing heads is
  17.        now 1.60 instead of 1.63; all program Help files were improved under

  20.     4. Ford and Chrysler transmissions added to program; camshaft "lobe

  27.     Version 2.80, 2.81 (01/93):

  29.     1. Major improvements and advancements in the program's E.T. logic were
  30.        made, resulting in improved shift points, optimum carburetor
  31.        recommendations, optimum gear & stall suggestions, and better E.T.
  32.        accuracy.  Most changes affect only the faster engine combinations,
  33.        although engine combinations that are somewhat unbalanced may
  34.        experience particularly dramatic improvements.  Slower street cars
  35.        (in the 14 second and slower range) are not likely to be affected in
  36.        any way. As a result of the new logic overhead, program execution time
  37.        increased by aprox. 60%.

  39.     2. Numerous corrections and improvements were made to both the E.T.
  40.        logic and Advice screen suggestions for Injected engine combinations.
  41.  
  42.     3. If the combination is turbocharged or supercharged, low compressions
  43.        are now accepted (instead of causing a fatal combination error). In
  44.        addition, Advice Screen Compression ratio suggestions are now tied in
  45.        to the actual amount of supercharger or turbocharger Boost, greatly
  46.        improving the validity of the advice.

  48.     4. Threshold carburetor size has been decreased to prevent rejection of
  49.        marginal engine combinations due to "insufficient" carburetion.

  51.     5. Rocker Arm Ratio suggestions in the Advice Screen were improved to
  52.        prevent display of conflicting messages.

  54.     6. Display priority of the Advice Screen's 40 suggestions and warnings
  55.        was reorganized so the most important messages are always displayed,
  56.        while the least important messages (at that time) are off the screen.

  58.     7. "F3=ADVICE" prompt no longer flashes or appears in bold if Advice
  59.        screen selection is invalid due to combination error elsewhere.

  66.     Version 3.00 (05/03/93):

  68.     1. New camshaft analysis formulas were added, improving DragStrip Plus'
  69.        E.T., MPH, and shift point accuracy, and Advice Screen suggestions.
  70.        A new statistic, the "Overall Camshaft Profile" rating in the Advice
  71.        Screen, greatly simplifies the task of determining the best cam for
  72.        any given engine combination.

  74.     2. The program now calculates optimum primary header lengths, top speed
  75.        in each gear at engine shift point, and optimum fuel injector sizes (if
  76.        fuel injected); supports for dual turbochargers added.

  78.     3. All alcohol fuel logic algorithms in the program were completely
  79.        replaced in order to correct severe errors that affected the faster
  80.        alcohol combinations; in addition, for the first time, DragStrip Plus
  81.        will now calculate the performance of blown Alcohol dragsters.

  83.     4. A powerful new feature has been added to the program: users can now
  84.        directly customize DragStrip Plus' E.T. performance calculations and
  85.        the Advice Screen's part ratings and combination improvement
  86.        suggestions by editing new program file RACE0XX.RTS (documented in full
  87.        in DragStrip Plus' new improved User's Manual, and also in revised
  88.        program file RACEPRM.DOC).  Furthermore, identifiers for each database
  89.        element have been incorporated directly into the program's parameter
  90.        file, eliminating further need for file RACEPRM.KEY (no longer included).

  92.     5. For the first time, DragStrip Plus will now correctly predict the E.T.s
  93.        of vehicles that finish the quarter mile in either a transmission
  94.        overdrive gear or a transmission downshift gear (transmission gears
  95.        other than the typical "high" or 1 : 1 final gear across the finish
  96.        line);  "Optimum Gear" calculations will be adjusted to match if the
  97.        transmission has one or more overdrive gears.

  99.     6. Motorcycles can now be calculated by the program (no accuracy
  100.        guaranteed!) as a result (among other things) from allowable input
  101.        ranges of several variables having been increased: Tire Height widened
  102.        to 20-44", Trans Slip increased to 25% maximum, top Gear ratio increased
  103.        to 8.40, Driver' Weight minimum now 80 lbs., Vehicle's Weight widened to
  104.        350-6000; Rocker Arm Ratio will now accept 3-digit inputs, such
  105.        "1.52 : 1".

  107.     7. E.T. performances of Stock and Super Stock cars can now be accurately
  108.        computed by DragStrip Plus thanks to new program input "Engine Quality";
  109.        additionally, program accuracy in forecasting the performance of either
  110.        exceptionally built or poorly built engine combinations has been
  111.        dramatically improved as well.

  113.     8. Database maximum capacity has been increased to 115 vehicles, while
  114.        the first four "Example cars" in the vehicle database have been locked
  115.        to ensure these combinations will always match the User's Manual
  116.        tutorial (existing user's databases will not be affected, only new
  117.        vehicle databases).  Also, a 6 second Pro-Modified combination was
  118.        added to the vehicle database (new users only).

  120.     9. The program's print routine has been replaced to correct a serious
  121.        problem affecting certain printers models that caused them not to
  122.        print; additionally, printer connection lockups are impossible now.

  124.    10. For E.T. increased accuracy, temperature default was removed while
  125.        transmission slippage was made a required input once again; numerous
  126.        new defaults were added throughout the program and the Setup utility;
  127.        an aggravating series of menu cycling errors was fixed.

  129.    11. Program now tests computer system for sufficient RAM memory during
  130.        program load and guides user through needed system changes, if any
  131.        (reason: 512K RAM memory computer systems may experience difficulties
  132.        with this version's increased memory requirements); all internal
  133.        program Help was upgraded to match DragStrip Plus's newly overhauled
  134.        User's Manual.
