To whom it may concern,
Enclosed please find a 3.5 inch diskette containing a freeware GURPS
star system generator for MS-DOS and a printed, notarized license
agreement. I would like to distribute this software using the GURPS name
and therefore am asking for your approval.
This program follows all of the star system construction rules as found
in GURPS Space, 2nd Edition, Chapter 10 (Stars and Worlds) and all of the
rules for civilization determination as found in Chapter 11 (Planetary
Civilizations). There is one exception, however. I was unable to
implement planetary systems for multiple star systems due to some
underspecified rules in Chapter 10. Hopefully, you can supply official
rule clarifications and these can be incorporated into Version 2.0 of the
program.
To quickly get started, insert the diskette into your floppy drive and
change that drive to be your default. Then type "INSTALL". All of the
files will be copied to your C: drive into a directory called "STARGEN".
To run the generator, just type "STAR". The interface is designed to be
mouse-driven, but you can use keyboard equivalents for all of the mouse
commands. For more details, please see the "read.me" file on the diskette.
Thank you for making such a great product as GURPS. I hope you find my
software follows your high standard for quality.
Sincerely,
Timothy Cain.
