  1. CU-SeeMe for Windows                            Version 0.34b4  11-3-94

  3. CU-SeeMe is video conferencing software for the PC and Macintosh on the
  4. Internet.
  5.  
  6. Download the cuseeme.zip file in binary mode and unzip using PKUNZIP.EXE.
  7. If you don't have a copy of the ZIP compression utilities
  8. you can download them from ftp.cit.cornell.edu in the pub/dos/util
  9. directory as pkz204g.exe.  Then execute this file to extract the
  10. zip utilities.  ZIP is also available on lots of other public servers.

  12. KNOWN BUGS REMAINING: ----------------------------------------------------

  14. 1) There is a known problem using CU-SeeMe with the Trumpet Winsock
  15.    TCP/IP stack.  This bug occurs when you have a capture device and
  16.    are sending - after a few moments, receive activity on all video
  17.    windows stops, then sending often stops also.  There is a new beta
  18.    Trumpet 1.0b which is apparently available from FTP.TRUMPET.COM.AU
  19.    as beta/winsock/wsk10b21.zip.  This version seems to work well 
  20.    according to many users.

  22. 2) Many users (including anyone using NFS) will get the following message:
  23.    "Error binding to videosend port".  This bug will probably be fixed
  24.    in the very near future.  Please keep a look out for a bug-fix for this.

  27. Bug Fixes:

  29. *   Fix for "Error binding to videosend port (1048)" bug.  This bug occurred
  30.     when users were using the UDP socket for something else, like NFS, or
  31.     Lan Workplace.
  32.  
  33. *   Fix "Divide by zero" error when the 'max kbits/sec' preference setting
  34.     was set to zero.
  35.  
  36. *   Sometimes a video window would appear but nothing would show up and the
  37.     'Stats' numbers at the bottom of the window would stay at 0.

  39. New Features:
  40.  
  41. *   Conference ID.  Reflectors can be set up to require a conference ID in
  42.     order to connect (a number from 0 to 65535).  If the reflector Conference
  43.     ID is set to zero, any user with any ID can connect.  Otherwise, only
  44.     users who know in advance the correct conference ID will be allowed
  45.     to connect.  The Conference ID is set in the 'connect' dialog box.

  47. *   Message-of-the-Day and Reflector-Message.  A Window appears when you
  48.     connect to a reflector (if the reflector is configured with one) telling
  49.     you relevent information about the reflector and/or any upcoming 
  50.     conference information.  The Reflector-Message tells you about any errors
  51.     that have occurred, such as your code version is too old, or you have
  52.     the wrong conference ID.

  54. *   'Max Open Windows' preferences feature.  You can now limit the number of
  55.     open windows that can be open at one time on your screen.  This is most
  56.     useful if you have limited bandwidth and you want to exclude windows 
  57.     with no relevant activity and keep new windows from popping up automatic-
  58.     ally.

  60. *   Video Window positions are remembered between sessions.

  73. The four cuseeme* files can go in a cuseeme directory by themselves.
  74. msvideo.dll should go in your windows/system directory UNLESS you
  75. have a copy of Video for Windows in which case you'll already have
  76. a copy.  (Its best not to mix versions).

  78. You can use the Windows Program Manager to add a 'program item' for
  79. cuseeme.exe as 'CU-SeeMeW?.????' and for cuseeme.hlp as 'CU-SeeMe Help'.
