So how many of you watch the Anik satellites? If you used to go there
for TMN or Much Music or even had a Cancom programming package on
satellite E2 look elsewere. Yesturday at around 12:40pm The E1
satellite started to spin off it's axis and services shut down...The
story goes that hey saved E1 but then all of a sudden the same happened
to the E2 bird!!!!! To make a long story short as of 9:00am Jan 21,1994
Anik E2 is no longer active and Telsat Canada is scrambling to place
services onto the E1 bird. I did notice that Newsworld has many C and
Ku band feeds on E1. Also the music channel has moved to E1-13....Where
have the other services gone?
Some things to think of:
1- What happens to all those TCI Canadian Cancom systems?
2- Where will the old services pop up?
3- Satellite TV is not the only medium effected by this "disaster".
4- What will happen to the plans for the Canadian distributor
Teecomm to put up a DBS system?
1 month of '94 has just begun and look what this industry has brought
so far ..... Same service ID's .... Same channel ID's .... Satellites
falling.

Latest news:
Information has been received that The Movie Network which
transmitted their signal on E2-04 will put on hold all of
their subscriber base untill the problem of transponder allocation
is taken care of .... If the time ittakes is 10 days for this to happen
then the paying customer will get their subscription expire date
will be extended for that period of time.
Also heard a rumour that G6 may replace E2 .....
