  9.  Around 1970 Bell formed a special
  10. type of security agency known only
  11. as 'SIF' (Special Intelligence Force)
  12. This organization will usually pay
  13. the suspected victim a visit if
  14. Bell can't (by any legal means) get
  15. any info. on you about your suspected
  16. fone fraud. 
  17.  
  18.  They have been known in one case
  19. to have seriously injured one person
  20. when he refused to let them in his
  21. to search it. After they had beaten
  22. him up a bit, they proceded to 
  23. Press [RETURN]                  confiscate all electronic equipment
  24. on the premises.

  26.  Although it was later discovered 
  27. that he had nothing to do with 
  28. phreaking, his reputation was 
  29. permanently ruined, and he could
  30. never get a job in his field again.

  32.  After the trial was over and he
  33. was found innocent, he noticed an
  34. extra wire from running from his
  35. house to the fone line. When he 
  36. called the company and asked them 
  37. about it, all they said was that it
  38. was not to be tampered with, and
  39. that any tampering detected would 
  40. result in a fine and possible 
  41. prison sentence.

  44. mention, had a permanent record 
  45. about this incident on his file,
  46. and wherever he went this record 
  47. followed him. He was so harrassed by
  48. all of these matters that on 
  49. October 12, 1973 this man committed
  50. suicide by asphyxiating himself
  51. in his 1970 Oldsmobile by leaving
  52. the engine running while still
  53. in the garage. 
  54. Pinned to his shirt was a suicide 
  55. note that explained about some
  56. of the incidents of embezzlement by
  57. high ranking company officials,
  58. embezzlement of company funds, and
  59. political slush funding.

  61.  Bell was never tried for any of
  62. these offenses because almost all

  64. incident were "ENCOURAGED" not
  65. to discuss the matter with anyone.

  67.  The only person ever known to 
  68. speal about the matter publicly was
  69. J. Edward Hyde. He wrote an entire
  70. book on alot of things about the
  71. Bell system.
