  9. SCOR  or  Software  &  Courseware  On-line  Reviews  is  a  database of
  10. information  about software and courseware and reviews of the same.  It
  11. incorporates  the Schools Computing On-line Resources database which is
  12. a  database of information about all aspects of the use of computers in
  13. schools.  The database includes information about all types of software
  14. including  application,  educational  and  system  software, curriculum
  15. materials  and  professional development for teachers.  The database of
  16. educational  software is built on the catalogue of software held at the
  17. WA  Non-Government  Schools  Computing  Centre  and  currently includes
  18. mainly  software  for  the  Apple  II, BBC and Microbee microcomputers.
  19. Information  about  software for other microcomputers is in the process
  20. of being added.

  22. A  number  of pages have been included as examples of information about
  23. hardware,  professional  development  and  curriculum  materials in the
  24. field of schools computing.

  26. The   database  was  initially  developed  by  the  Western  Australian
  27. Educational Computing Consortium at the Curtin University of Technology
  28. (formerly  the Western Australian Institute of Technology) as part of a
  29. project  funded  by  the  Commonwealth Curriculum Development Centre to
  30. examine   the   feasibility   of   establishing   a  national  software
  31. clearinghouse.  The database has been considerably expanded and updated
  32. since then.
