  14.    This system is provided to you by ICS volunteers and by your
  15.    ICS membership fees.

  17.    It exists to provide a medium for ICS members to share 
  18.    information with each other, and to access other sources of 
  19.    information available outside the ICS community.

  21.                      Society Membership
  22.                      ------------------
  23.    In order to use this system, it is advisable for you to become 
  24.    a member of the Industrial Computing Society.   
  25.  
  26.    To become a member of the ICS, please enter the following 
  27.    information into a email message, and send it to the sysop using 
  28.    the "feedback" command (or, call (919)990-9303 for an application):

  30.    Name, Title
  31.    Full Company Address (or home address if applicable)
  32.    Phone and FAX numbers
  33.    Preferred Email Address

  35.    Then, send a check for $55 to:

  41.    You will get a membership card, the ICS newsletter, and
  42.    hard-copy survey form which you need to fill out and sign in 
  43.    order to receive Industrial Computing Magazine.

  45.                      ICSnet Validation
  46.                      -----------------
  47.    Prior to your actual membership, you can be validated for use 
  48.    of this system on a trial basis.  Just use the "feedback" command,
  49.    requesting user validation, and optionally complete your "plan" 
  50.    information.

  52.      The ICS volunteers who have built ICSNet look forward 
  53.                 to your active participation!

  55.      By working together, we can build ICS into a vibrant
  56.                 force in Industrial Computing.

  58.      NOTE THESE MAIN COMMANDS!!! -
  59.      help - This gets you into the "help" system, which is menu-driven.
  60.  
  61.      new  - This scans through all the newsgroups you have joined looking
  62.             for new messages (we automatically join you to a number of
  63.             interesting groups, but there are others).  Note that the
  64.             first time you log in, there will be no "new" messages - try
  65.             again tomorrow.

  67.      join/unjoin - These commands add or delete the current newsgroup from
  68.             your scan list (see above).

  70.      To move to a specific newsgroup, type the name of the newsgroup and 
  71.      hit (enter).  To read messages in the current group, type "read".
  72.      In read mode, typing the message number will show that message.
  73.      To get a list of newsgroups, type "help newsgroups".
