Analogue 1995
APOLOGIES FOR THE SLOW AND LAZY CODE !!
requirements |
--------+-------+
|
You will need a 486 or better with about 6Mb of base memory to run
this demo. But we recommend:
- Pentium 90, 8Mb
- Gravis Ultrasound (Max) with 1Mb
- Fast VGA card (PCI or atleast VLB)
It runs under any modern DOS server except Windows x.xx ('95), OS/2
x.xx (Warp), DPMIRES, QDPMI or any other DPMI server. Just run it under
DOS 3.2 or better with optional XMS or EMS driver.
Note: THIS IS THE PARTYVERSION. It is too big, too lazy and too buggy.
We will maybe release a better version somewhere in the future.

The demo doesn't run at all:
This was yet only witnessed on a 486SLC-33. Try it on another
computer or with a different memory mode (EMS, XMS, etc.)
The music hicks, sounds strange or doesn't sound at all:
Either you have a certain revision GUS MAX or no GUS at all.
The demo stops when I press SHIFT:
The demo stops when you press ANY key!
The beginning scroller is motionblurred:
Right.
I have an Amiga 1200 and I can't get this demo to work:
Do you really want an answer?
System 64 messages:
.S64: 80386 or better required
go buy a better computer or watch another demo.
.S64: system is running in V86 mode
Remove OS/2, Windows or any other DPMI server that can switch
off windows/DPMI detection.
.S64: system is running under a DPMI server
remove OS/2, Windows, DPMIRES, QDPMI or any other DPMI server.
.S64: cannot enable A20 gate
It seems you have a special computer... Contact Simm and give
him a list with your exact hardware and software configuration.
.S64: not enough base memory
Remove DOS basemem TSR's and drivers.
.S64: system is running under Microsoft Windows
REMOVE WINDOWS !!!
.S64: error loading ROM data file
MASTER.DAT is corrupted or not in the startup directory.
.S64: THIS CODE SUCKS !!!!!
Due to some strange mistake, the computer rejects this
demo.
.S64: error allocating XMS memory
There seems to be some trouble with HIMEM.SYS. Consult your
DOS manual or run a diagnostics utility. The demo needs about
6MB XMS. Also, you can try to run the demo under EMM386 or
another VCPI driver, or totally blank (using a clean boot).
.S64: [xx] xxxxxxxxx
These are processor faults. You can get the following ones:
divide fault: Mainly this is caused by the crappy 3D
engine running on a slow computer.
invalid opcode fault: The code went haywire... Try to
run it again or run it on a
faster computer.
stack fault: The code runs on a slow computer and piles
up IRQ calls. Run it on a faster computer.
general protection fault: see invalid opcode fault.
page fault: Occurs only in VCPI (EMS) mode. Sometimes
due to some strange unknown factor the demo
won't run and give this error.
TDJ's fault: Contact Intel immediately because there is
something wrong with your processor.
Keyboard break fault: DON'T PRESS A KEY DURING THE
DEMO !!
.S64: heap overflow
You don't have enough extended or expanded memory. It needs
about 6Mb. Also, it might be possible that you used a different
CIRCUIT.EXE with a different MASTER.DAT.

This demo introduces hicolor high-performance fullscreen active
crossfading, multispline 3D objects, self-antialiasing proportional
font driving, photometric overflow flare simulation with recalculated
lens aberations, realtime translucency projection mapping, hicolor to
256-color realtime quantisation, 256-step flickerfree metamorphing and
many more fascinating new insights.
We didn't take too much time for this demo, so it contains loads of raw
stored hicolor 256x256 environment maps and huge backgrounds (and maybe
even some unused things as well)... We almost exceeded the 4Mb limit :)
