  5. To all members of the Global Alliance of Internet Anarchists (GAIA 2000):
  6. Planet Earth is now passing between two tremendous (non-)events. The first,
  7. the Earth Summit, ostensibly laid the ground rules for global governance in
  8. the '90s, but has been widely greeted with cynicism and despair. The second,
  9. the Time Shift, is supposed to mark the end of materialism and alienation,
  10. but there's not much point in waiting for the cosmos to take care of things
  11. for us.
  12.   Between them, these two events may mark the end of politics and religion
  13. as humanity has known them. In such times we need to pool all of our
  14. intelligence, in order to work out what the hell is going on. To this end I
  15. nominate the following groups and individuals as vital sources of information
  16. and untested perspectives. Between them, they might just know enough to get
  17. us out of our current mess.

  33. examining impact of future technologies on everything else in a way unequalled

  37. - disseminating the ideas of biologist Jeremy Griffith who claims to have

  39. world-transforming consequences of his discovery.. All described in his book
  40. "Beyond the Human Condition".

  43. bring together scientists and mystics (among others). Members include Lovelock
  44. and Margulis (Gaia Hypothesis). Try anything by Thompson but especially his
  45. recent books, eg "Reimagination of the World" with David Spangler.

  48. formerly Falcon Press. Publish books by Timothy Leary, Robert Anton Wilson,

  50. intelligence and immortality to Planet Earth.
