  3.         Well most of us at some stage in our lives will have a brush with the
  4. law, so here's some interesting truths about the law in VIC, OZ. Most of this
  5. stuff applies all throughout OZ though. I'll throw in some general law trivia
  6. as well, just in case you're curious :)
  7.  
  8.         * If you are under 18 and you sign some sort of contract, it is NOT
  9.         legally binding. This means that if you're 16 and you sign a contract
  10.         agreeing to pay off a computer over some time limit, you can take the
  11.         computer, tell the dude you're not going to pay him shit, and there
  12.         isn't a damn thing he can do about it. The onlt times you have to stick
  13.         to a contract is if you are buying stuff to live on ( food, clothing,
  14.         etc.), or if you borrow money from banks, building society, etc., also
  15.         if the contract helps with employment or education.
  16.  
  17.         * When you are 17 you can leave home. If you leave home before you are
  18.         17, your parents can call the Department of Health & Community services
  19.         and get them to find you and bring you home, or take you to court. If
  20.         there is bad shit going on at home though, they probably won't force
  21.         you to go back.

  23.         * BEING TAKEN TO COURT:
  24.                                By the police- You can be taken to a court for
  25.         committing a crime once you are over 10. If you are under 17 you will
  26.         be taken to the children's court.
  27.                                By someone else- You can be sued by someone if
  28.         you have hurt them or caused them to lose money. But you will only be
  29.         responsible for the damage or loss if at your age you should have
  30.         known what the results would be.

  32.         * POLICE QUESTIONING (the pigs lie about your rights!):
  33.                 - If you are under 17, the police should not question you
  34.                 without a friend, relative, or independent person being
  35.                 present.
  36.                 - You DO NOT have to give your name or address to the police.
  37.                 - You do not have to give your name or address on public
  38.                 transport if asked by the cops or gumbies.
  39.                 - You do not have to give your name and address if you are
  40.                 driving a car/bike or if you are on licensed premises.
  41.                 - You don't have to go with the police unless you're under
  42.                 arrest. Always ask them 'Am I under arrest?'.
  43.                 - You don't have to give your fingerprints or blood samples
  44.                 unless a court orders it.
  45.                 - You don't have to have your photo taken, or be in a line-up.
  46.                 - You don't have to answer any questions. Just say "no comment"
  47.                 or something equally corny :)
  48.                 - Anything you say at ANYTIME can be used against you, even if
  49.                 it is so-called "off the books".
  50.                 - You don't ahve to sign anything unless you agree with it.
  51.                 HINTS: If you are being interviewed or busted or anything, try
  52.                 and piss the cops RIGHT off. Say shit like- "Don't you ever
  53.                 wonder what your dog and your wife get up to while your away
  54.                 playing cops and robbers?", if you get them so pissed off that
  55.                 they will hopefully hit you, all charges will be dropped
  56.                 against you as it will be an "improper arrest", and you can then
  57.                 sue the ass of the cops who busted you. When getting hassled by
  58.                 cops in VIC, they will almost always for your address, name and
  59.                 phone number, even if you haven't done anything. Try this ploy
  60.                 it can be really funny:
  61.                 PIG- "So you say you know nothing about the explosion in the
  62.                 area?"
  63.                 YOU- "That's what I said"
  64.                 PIG- "Do you have any I.D. on you?" (notice how they will always
  65.                 ASK you for it, they can't demand)
  66.                 YOU (playing dumb)- "Why? I haven't done anything wrong. Do I
  67.                 have to give you my details?"
  68.                 PIG- "It's just routine procedure. If you don't tell me your
  69.                 I.D. I'll take you down to the station."
  70.                 YOU- "Your full of shit, you have to officially arrest me first
  71.                 which you won't do as you will get into deep shit for making a
  72.                 false arrest. What's YOUR name and details? I'm going to report
  73.                 you to the IID and the deputy Ombudsman."
  74.                 PIG- "duhhh..." watch his face drop like a brick.

  76. BTW the phone number for IID (Internal Investigations Department) is
  77. 03-418-1888 (24 hour) DOB-A-COP :)

  79.         * SEX: heheh thought i better put this in ;)
  80.                 - No one is allowed to have sex with you if you are under 10
  81.                 - If you are between 10 and 16 a person is not allowed to have
  82.                 sex with you if they are more then two years older (yes
  83.                 Psychosis, that does mean that having sex with your mum is
  84.                 against the law. BTW Psychosis is a Fed Informer AND a lamer,
  85.                 so he deserves it :)
  86.                 - If you are aged 16 or 17 a person is not allowed to have sex
  87.                 with you if you are under their care, supervision or authority.
  88.  
  89.         * GETTING MARRIED: (why bother?)
  90.  
  91.                 - You can marry once you turn 18. If you are 16 or 17 you can
  92.                 only get married if:
  93.                         - your parents agree, and
  94.                         - your boyfriend or girlfriend is at least 18, and
  95.                         - a Magistrate or Judge is satisfied that there are
  96.                         special circumstances.
  97.                 - You can not get married if you are under 16.
  98.  
  99.         * DRINKING ALCOHOL: hehehe
  100.  
  101.                 - Until you are 18 you can only drink or buy alcohol if:
  102.                         - you are at your own or someone else's house; or
  103.                         - you are in a hotel or restaurant and you are having
  104.                         a meal with your parents.
  105.                 - No one is allowed to let you have alcohol unless it is one of
  106.                 these two situations. Police can take alcohol away from a
  107.                 person if they "believe" they are under 18 and not in one of
  108.                 these situations.
  109.                 - You cannot go into licensed premises unless you are with your
  110.                 parents or guardian for a meal. If you break the law the police
  111.                 could charge you and you could go to court.

  113.         * DRUGS: hahaha
  114.  
  115.                 - No matter how old you are it is a crime to have or take drugs
  116.                 that are illegal unless they have been prescribed (DOH! :)
  117.  
  118.         * TATTOOS: wierd huh?
  119.  
  120.                 - Until you are 18 you are not allowed to be tattooed (so all
  121.                 you kiddies will have to wait until your 18th before you can
  122.                 have "=MAIM=" tattooed on your forehead :-)

  124.         * BUYING CIGARETTES: to use as fuse delays ;)
  125.  
  126.                 - Until you are 18 no-one can sell or give you tobacco.

  128.         * CARRYING A WEAPON: the interesting bit...
  129.  
  130.                 - You can only have or buy a gun once you are 18, and you must
  131.                 have a permit for it.
  132.                 - If you are over 12 and under 18 you are allowed to carry a
  133.                 gun (but not a pistol) if you have written permission from the
  134.                 police. This is called a permit. You will only be given a
  135.                 permit if:
  136.                         - your parents agree; and
  137.                         - you are a responsible person (yeah right)
  138.                 - You will only be allowed to use this gun with a permit if you
  139.                 are with a person over 18 years of age who has a shooters
  140.                 permit.
  141.                 - No matter how old you are allowed to use an air-gun or an
  142.                 air-rifle at a shooting gallery or amusement centre (yippee!).
  143.                 - You are not allowed to carry knives such as flick-knives,
  144.                 daggers, butterfly knives, or knuckle knives.
  145.                 - You are also not allowed to carry nunchuckas, knuckle dusters,
  146.                 shanghais, blow guns or catapults.

  152. you live in Victoria so just ignore it if you come from some other place and
