1@X05)@X08 Cut a small piece of cardboard tubing from the tube you are using@X05.

it with epoxy and the drying agent to a height of 3@X05/@X084 the diameter
of the tubing@X05.@X08 Allow the epoxy to dry to maximum hardness, as

3@X05)@X08 When it is dry@X05,@X08 put a small hole in the middle of the tube@X05,@X08 and
insert a desired length of fuse@X05.@X08
4@X05) @X08Fill the tube with any type of flame@X05-@X08sensitive explosive@X05.@X08 Flash
powder@X05,@X08 pyrodex@X05,@X08 black powder@X05,@X08 potassium picrate@X05,@X08 lead azide@X05,@X08
nitrocellulose@X05,@X08 or any of the fast burning fuel@X05-@X08oxodizer mixtures
will do nicely@X05.@X08 Fill the tube almost to the top@X05.@X08
@X085@X05) @X08Pack the explosive tightly in the tube with a wad of tissue paper
and a pencil or other suitable ramrod@X05. @X08 Be sure to leave enough space
for more epoxy@X05.

it to dry@X05.
@X087@X05) @X08For those who wish to make spectacular firecrackers@X05,@X08 always use
flash powder@X05,@X08 mixed with a small amount of other material for
colors@X05.@X08 By crushing the material on a sparkler@X05,@X08 and adding it
to the flash powder@X05,@X08 the explosion will be the same color as the
sparkler@X05.@X08 By adding small chunks of sparkler material@X05,@X08 the
device will throw out colored burning sparks@X05,@X08 of the same color
as the sparkler@X05.@X08 By adding powdered iron@X05,@X08 orange sparks will
be produced@X05.@X08 White sparks can be produced from magnesium shavings@X05,
@X08or from small@X05, @X03LIGHTLY @X08crumpled balls of aluminum foil@X05.
@X03Example@X05: @X08 Suppose I wish to make a firecracker that will explode
with a red flash@X05, @X08and throw out white sparks@X05. @X08 First@X05,
@X08I would take a road flare, and finely powder the material
inside it@X05.@X08 Or@X05,@X08 I could take a red sparkler@X05,@X08 and finely
powder it@X05.@X08 Then@X05,@X08 I would mix a small amount of this
material with the flash powder@X05. (@X03NOTE@X05: @X03FLASH POWDER
MAY REACT WITH SOME MATERIALS THAT IT IS MIXED WITH@X05,@X03 AND
EXPLODE SPONTANEOUSLY@X05!)@X08 I would mix it in a ratio of
9 parts flash powder to 1 part of flare or sparkler
material@X05,@X08 and add about 15 small balls of aluminum foil
I would store the material in a plastic bag overnight
outside of the house@X05,@X08 to make sure that the stuff doesn@X05'@X08t
react@X05.@X08 Then, in the morning@X05,@X08 I would test a small amount
of it@X05,@X08 and if it was satisfactory@X05,@X08 I would put it in the
firecracker@X05.
