  7. Matt Bishop will be Guest Editor of a special issue of the journal
  8. "Computing Systems" to be published in 1993.  The issue will be
  9. devoted to "Security and Integrity of Open Systems."  Papers on all
  10. aspects of policy, issues, theory, design, implementation, and
  11. experiences with security and integrity in open systems are
  12. solicited
  13. for the issue.  The deadline for submissions is June 1, 1993;
  14. papers
  15. submitted after this deadline will not be considered.  Prospective
  16. authors should send five copies of their papers to:

  27. prior to their submission.  Papers developed from earlier
  28. conference,
  29. symposia and workshop presentations are welcome.

  31. "Computing Systems" is a journal dedicated to the analysis and
  32. understanding of the theory, design, art, engineering and
  33. implementation of advanced computing systems, with an emphasis on
  34. systems inspired or influenced by the UNIX tradition.  The
  35. journal's
  36. content includes coverage of topics in operating systems,
  37. architecture, networking, interfaces, programming languages, and
  38. sophisticated applications.

  40. "Computing Systems" (ISSN 0895-6340) is a refereed, quarterly
  41. journal
  42. published by the University of California Press for the USENIX
  43. Association.  Usenix is a professional and technical association of
  44. individuals and institutions concerned with breeding innovation in
  45. the
  46. UNIX tradition.
  47.  
  48. Now in its fifth year of publication, "Computing Systems" is
  49. regularly
  50. distributed to 4900 individual subscribers and over 600
  51. institutional
  52. subscribers (libraries, research labs, etc.) around the world. 
  53. Some
  54. special-topic issues are often distributed more widely.
  55.  
  56. The editor-in-chief of "Computing Systems" is Mike O'Dell of
  57. Bellcore.
  58. Gene Spafford of Purdue University is Associate Editor, and Peter
  59. Salus of the Sun User Group is the Managing Editor.
