  2. SHAREWARE NOTICE

  4.      This program is released as SHAREWARE and is NOT to be considered as
  5. Public Domain or Freeware.  You may freely copy and distribute this program
  6. as long as ALL files in the original archive are included and no fee is
  7. charged, other than for cost of media.
  8.  
  9.      If you find this program useful and/or use it repeatedly then send a
  10. $5.00 Registration Fee.

  12.      Many people do not like SHAREWARE and you will find that the ones that
  13. seem to dislike it the most are the people that never want to PAY for
  14. anything.  The concept of SHAREWARE is a good one as long as people SUPPORT
  15. it and todate from my own experience the support is very lacking.
  16. SHAREWARE allows people that cannot market a product  (either because of a
  17. lack of funds on their part or lack of interest by the software publishers)
  18. to sell their product on a try before you buy basis.  Just because a
  19. program is SHAREWARE doesn't mean it isn't a good program.  There are many
  20. SHAREWARE programs that are not worth the download time but the ones that
  21. ARE should be supported by a SHAREWARE Donation to the Author for their
  22. efforts.

  24.      If a programmer releases a good program as SHAREWARE and the program
  25. is seen to gain wide spread acceptance and use but programmer only gets a
  26. few donations you can rest assured you have LOST a programmer.  One of the
  27. reasons you cannot find very much in the way of GOOD software for the
  28. C-64/128 on BBS systems is because the programmers have given up.  Why have
  29. they given up?  The reason is obvious as most people take and never give.
  30. I have seen people leave long tirades to a programmer, that uploaded a GOOD
  31. program as SHAREWARE, about how they think it should be free and they will
  32. never download it because it isn't PD.  This attitude is completely
  33. disgusting.  If a programmer receives SHAREWARE FEEs for a program then you
  34. can bet he will work on other projects for the C-64/128.  Just take a look
  35. at the Libraries on Quantum Link and you will see there is very little
  36. uploaded to the Applications or Games areas.  Most of the Uploads are
  37. Pictures, EuroDemos and SID Files.  The reason for this is that programmers
  38. will not take the time to make a program and then GIVE it away as it takes
  39. a lot of time and effort to create something good.  What it comes down to
  40. is this, if you want to see more programs on the BBSs then you need to
  41. support those SHAREWARE authors that release good software.

  43.      This program is going to be a TEST.  If I receive a fairly good
  44. response then I will continue to write new software for the C-64/128.  If
  45. the response is dismal then I will concentrate my efforts on another
  46. computer system and leave the C-64/128 area.  The choice is now upto you
  47. the user.

  68. PROGRAM OVERVIEW
  69.  
  70.      This is a special Documentation Reader and Printer program that I
  71. wrote for distribution with my Shareware program releases.  The program can
  72. view or print any SEQ or PRG document file.  The only two restrictions are
  73. that a single line (one terminated by a CR (character 13)) not be larger
  74. than 255 characters and that a printed document not contain color codes as
  75. these are not filtered out.

  77.      You may distribute this program as a document viewer in your own
  78. Shareware and Public Domain releases as long as you have sent in a
  79. Shareware donation of $1.00 to $5.00 (let your conscience be your guide).

  81.      The program is easy to use and one nice feature is the default device
  82. for reading files from will be the device number you loaded the program
  83. from.  So if you load the viewer from device number 9 the 'DEVICE NO. ='
  84. portion of the menu will indicate device 9.

  86.      Just use the Cursor Keys to move the menu bar and the Return Key to
  87. select the item.

  89. DISK DIRECTORY
  90.  
  91.      When selected this command will display a directory of the selected
  92. device.  The listing will pause after every 21 directory entries.  If you
  93. press the RUN-STOP during the listing the directory will be aborted.  The
  94. Spacebar will pause the listing and Return will resume.

  97. VIEW TEXTFILE
  98.  
  99.      This command will display the entered text file to the screen.  If you
  100. wish to pause the listing press the Spacebar and the Return Key will
  101. resume.  You can press the RUN-STOP key to abort the listing of the file.

  104. PRINT TEXTFILE
  105.  
  106.      This command will send the entered text file to both the screen and
  107. printer.  You may abort the printing by pressing the RUN-STOP Key.

  110. DEVICE NO. = ?
  111.  
  112.      When this command is selected the serial buss will be scanned for the
  113. next availible device.  Once it has been found it will stop and display the
  114. device number.
